Job Title: iSeries Engineer



Overview:


We are seeking an experienced IBM iSeries Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our IBM iSeries infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. This role involves working closely with various departments to support their IT needs and provide solutions that align with business objectives.



Key Responsibilities:


- Manage and maintain IBM iSeries (AS/400) systems, including hardware and software upgrades, patches, and backups.

- Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and reliability.

- Perform regular security audits and implement necessary security measures.

- Lead and participate in IT projects related to the IBM iSeries environment.

- Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

- Implement and maintain IT best practices, including disaster recovery planning and business continuity.

- Strong knowledge of IBM iSeries hardware and software.

- Experience with system monitoring tools and performance tuning.

- Familiarity with programming languages such as RPG, CL, and COBOL.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Knowledge of networking principles and protocols.

- Experience with virtualization technologies.

- This position will require occasional evening and weekend work.

- On-call support is required.



Qualifications:


- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

- Minimum 10 years of experience in IBM iSeries (AS/400) system administration.

- iSeries / POWER platform certification preferred

- Certification in IBM iSeries system administration or related fields.

- Strong knowledge of support desk software with awareness of ITIL Service Desk process

- Knowledge and experience of defining, creating, and managing procedures.

- Security compliance experience: SOC, PCI, ISO 27001, or SOX a plus.

- Time management and organizational skills

- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills; be adept at communicating with all levels of technical and non-technical personnel.

- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and personal development.

- Self-motivated; ability to work under minimal supervision.
