Position Summary This position is responsible for supervising the paving crew and asphalt paving operations on both public and private work to ensure the highest quality product and service. Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in spreading, rolling, tamping, and patching asphalt or similar material to form surfaces of highways, streets, parking lots and driveways.
Responsibilities
Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
Provides overall on-site leadership on a construction project site
Participates and promotes the safety culture
Provides direction, training and assistance to an asphalt crew
Measures slope and material thickness to verify compliance with contracts and to supervise the job
Communicates daily with Project Manager or Project Superintendent to discuss schedule and production needs
Completes paperwork including daily crew time sheets, daily site evaluation sheets, weekly toolbox safety meeting sheets and other required paperwork
Communicates and works effectively with state and local agencies; inspectors; contractors; subcontractors, company management and employees
Completes projects in a timely, accurate and safe manner
Operates other heavy equipment and other construction related duties as required
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits
Has a thorough understanding of various aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, mix designs, job specifications, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving
Self-motivated and eager to learn new skills
Perform well in a "TEAM" environment
Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
Willing to work hours that are associated to the asphalt industry, including overtime and weekends as needed
Communicate effectively, both written and verbally
Basic mathematical skills
Ability to detect and solve problems
Valid driver license is required
Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen
Minimum Education and Experience
3-5 years of industry experience required
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Physical Requirements & Conditions
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions andtolerate being exposed to loud noise
Ability to lift 75 pounds
Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
Compensation & Benefits:
We are excited to share the base hourly range for this position is $30 - $38. The offered compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The posted range for this role represents the total reasonable pay range and does not solely represent a hiring range. Therefore, hiring at the top or maximum of the range should not be expected as it would not allow for salary growth opportunities in the role, would diminish promotion value, and may not align with internal equity.
