Job Description:

Position Summary



Operates paver to spread and level asphalt material on subgrade and related surfaces such as highways, roadways, parking lots, etc.



Responsibilities




  • Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task

  • Controls material taken into paver and the depth of material being distributed through the paver, smoothness of mat, any unnecessary roughness and/or irregularities in mat, ride quality of mat, and depths of material distributed through paving machine

  • Operates screed machine from a standing position on a platform attached to the paver or walking alongside

  • Uses the screed machine to lay asphalt material to project specifications including but not limited to depth, width, and grade

  • Operates other heavy equipment and other construction related duties as required


Knowledge,Skills and Abilities



  • Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits

  • Has a thorough understanding of various aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, mix designs, job specifications, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving

  • Perform well in a "TEAM" environment

  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency

  • Willing to work hours that are associated to the asphalt industry, including overtime, nights and weekends as needed

  • Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen


Minimum Education and Experience



  • 3-5 years of experience required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
