Job Description:

Position Summary

The Logistic Technology Instructor is to support the College's mission and underlying principles by providing quality instruction in logistics and supply chain management classes that align with the needs of the College's service area. Planning, teaching, reporting, recordkeeping, student recruitment, student advisement, job placement, follow-up, and equipment upkeep are integral parts of the teaching position.


Salary Schedule Placement: Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule D1 IC-IB ($41,282- $66,891) based on education and experience. Summer appointments are based on enrollment- Salary Schedule D1 ($12,746 - $20,693) based on education and experience. Annual Potential Salary including Summer Appointment ($54,028- $87,584)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Teach 30-35 contact hours or 15-16 credit hours per semester and/or the equivalent in non-credit hours or a combination of the credit and non-credit course offerings.

  • Regular and consistent attendance at work.

  • Instructor must be available to teach in day, night, weekend classes, and training opportunities if necessary.

  • Prepare and maintain current course syllabus according to the College's guidelines.

  • Develop and implement a program of instruction that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students and is consistent with local and state plan of study established curriculum.

  • Plan and employ a variety of appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities which are compatible with the physical facility but serve the needs and capabilities of the students.

  • Plan and implement lessons based on curriculum objectives and the needs and abilities of students.

  • Establish and utilize a Logistics Advisory Committee according to approved guidelines.

  • Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials and equipment of instructional specialty.

  • Prepare and maintain program budget.

  • Maintain lab equipment and supplies.

  • Prepare program course offerings for schedule for each semester and term.

  • Coordinate apprenticeships, internships, and Co-ops with related industries.

  • Develop and evaluate Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) for instructional specialty.

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Division to develop and implement divisional goals.

  • Knowledge of institution's program of studies related to mission, goals and organization.

  • Update and revise courses in collaboration with the faculty, department chair, and dean of career technical education, and when appropriate, the advisory committee.

  • Maintain contact with business and industry and other potential employers.

  • Recruit students into program and advise through completion.

  • Serve on divisional, institutional, and state-wide committees as appointed.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.

  • Work with college ADA coordinator to provide appropriate accommodation for identified students

  • Maintain and conduct schedule office hours for student conferences

  • Mastery knowledge in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
  • Qualifications


    REQUIRED EDUCATION, STANDARDS, AND TRAINING:


  • Associate Degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning

  • Three (3) years of documented full-time experience in logistics, warehouse, supply chain management, or logistics training

  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft office applications and email)


  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor Degree from a regionally accredited college or university

  • Education, training, certification, and/or work experience in multiple instructional areas in technical education programs




  • REQUIRED LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, OR SPECIAL CREDENTIALS:


  • Documentation of industry recognized credentials earned or in progress (MSSC CLT)

  • Certification in one or more program area(s): transportation, distribution, logistics or supply chain logistics




  • OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:


  • Good written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively respond to questions from supervisors, faculty, staff, students and the general public.

  • Must pursue industry recognized credentials as determined by the College (examples: MSSC Certified Logistics Associate (CLA), Certified Logistics Technician Certification (CLT), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Global Logistics Associate (GLA), The Association for Operations Management (APICS) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM))

  • Ability to travel as required by the College.
