We are seeking an Aviation Technical Programs Engineer/Manager, located in our Olathe, KS office, to lead all aspects of a pursuit, project, or program from start to finish. From conception to development and application of advanced avionics systems, our Aviation Programs Engineers do it all. This position requires you to work with Garmin's customers, the aircraft OEMs, to develop, certify, and deploy industry-changing and life-saving innovations, such as our recently introduced Emergency Autoland, which will revolutionize general aviation. Garmin is seeking Program Managers with an entrepreneurial spirit, who constantly strive to innovate to manage their unique programs as effectively and efficiently as possible.
Essential Functions:
Perform technical market research in support of product definition and/or business development initiatives
Coordinate and present product roadmap reviews to our OEM customers Serve as Garmin's primary point of communication for our OEM customers for a given program(s) to ensure that appropriate updates regarding relevant program progress and issue management are effectively communicated both internally and externally
Lead a cross-functional team consisting of software, hardware, and systems engineers to make on time deliveries to our OEM customers
Perform hands-on bench testing of select interfaces or functionality and provide support for tool definition
Analyze program requirements and lead assessment of scope, schedule, effort, risks, and all other aspects of the program
Provide elite organizational skills for your program; you are the owner of all aspects of the program-communication, leadership, technical requirements, certification, customer relationships, and success
Support technical teams in reviews, drafting of specific design documents, change management, and drafting of OEM notifications
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics or related field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Demonstrates knowledge in one or more of the following technical areas: Systems Integration, System Safety, System Requirements, Aircraft Certification
Demonstrates advanced troubleshooting skills and provides assistance with troubleshooting equipment in the field
Driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems
Desired Qualifications:
Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
Pilot's License
