We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (ME) to be based in Andover, MA. The candidate will help increase the mechanical engineering capacity and competence of the organization through training, mentorship, knowledge transfer, standardization, separation of work, and application of effective problem-solving techniques. The work is exciting and fun, pushing the technology envelope in an open, collaborative, and supportive environment. In this role, you will be working with multi-disciplined teams to design, implement, and test products in the arena of power protection, IT racks, power distribution and liquid cooling. You will be responsible for delivering high quality power-related mechanics and cooling at the heart of SE Power Systems.

What will you do?

The candidate will coordinate with various disciplines within the organization (electrical, software, systems, industrialization, test engineering, etc.) and will be an integral part of problem-solving complex design challenges.


  • Coordinates with various engineering disciplines within the organization to collaborate, optimize, and improve work by participating in strategy sessions.

  • Identifies, champions, mentors, and coaches the development of our less experienced staff and looks for ways to elevate the technical and professional expertise of the team.

  • Participate and lead where appropriate the technology roadmap of the function to align the organization for increased NPD throughput and quality.

  • Through appropriate engagement and education maintain up-to-date knowledge in all areas of responsibility.

  • Develop standards and processes to improve functional performance and effectiveness of team.

  • Identify development tools and plans to maintain our team's development competitive edge.


What qualifications will make you successful for this role?

  • Understanding of testing requirements, best practices, and algorithms for power systems hardware.

  • Ability to influence test and qualification processes, improving quality, increasing performance, and reducing cost/resourcing.

  • Working knowledge of Agile methodology, DFM/DFA practices and failure mode effects & risk analysis.

  • 3D modeling experience with metal and plastic part design, assemblies, cables and drawings.

  • Working knowledge on CREO, PDM, CFD, graphics editing, and Rapid Prototyping.

  • Experience with material documentation, component drawings, BOM and ECO management.

  • Understanding of mechanical integration of power conversion/distribution systems.

  • Desire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development and production phases of the electronic assembly product lifecycle.

  • Experience in lab work, data collection, and root-cause analysis.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors/partners to track test/qualification status and report progress to organization leaders.

  • Demonstrated innovative, critical & independent thinking, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Highly professional, with the ability to deliver high quality, well-tested work on tight schedules.

  • Excellent collaborative skills, with outstanding written and verbal communication.

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?


  • BS/MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering , a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5+ years of experience working on and leading mechanical design, verification or testing initiatives.

  • Experience in establishing project goals, coordinating resources, and providing technical leadership.
