Responsibilities

Responsible for providing leadership to the College of Fine Arts (CFA) in the management, direction, and coordination of faculty affairs activities. Serves as primary contact for faculty recruitment, development, advancement, and support for the College of Fine Arts.



  • Directs and provides oversight and coordination of faculty affairs activities for the College of Fine Arts. Provides guidance and direction to faculty and staff on various processes related to faculty appointments and development, including but not limited to: faculty searches, hires, appointment and immigration paperwork, promotion and tenure, college-wide committee elections, personnel issues, evaluations, sabbaticals and merit data. Responsible for ensuring that functions within these areas are in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and university policies and procedures. Develops, recommends, and implements operating policies, procedures, and internal controls that support and enhance the CFA and Departmental goals and objectives. Serves as a member of the Dean's management team providing operational advice and counsel to the Dean, Chairs, and department heads.

  • Responsible for the development and management of college faculty hiring processes and procedures that comply with all University HR and Office of Faculty Development and Advancement standards and policies. Serves as Dean's Office point of contact regarding faculty recruiting and hiring processes. Reviews, researches and develops salary reports for the Dean in preparation of faculty recruiting. Reviews and consults with the Dean, Associate, and Assistant Deans on faculty position requests. Works with College Leadership on anticipated faculty vacancies to identify appropriate job classifications for positions and guides department and college administrators in the development of position advertisements for faculty. Responsible for the review and approval of all faculty position advertisements on behalf of the Dean. Coordinates with the Office of Faculty Development and Advancement (FDA) and the Provost's Office on all recruiting and hiring processes that require their approval.

  • Provides high level expertise and serves as subject matter expert to the Dean, Associate and Assistant Deans and department chairs and directors on faculty development processes for the college. Meets regularly with department leadership in a primary support role for college initiatives and to provide status updates. Responsible for the review and audit of departmental bylaws to ensure compliance with the College of Fine Arts bylaws, University and collective bargaining policies and procedures. Tracks faculty activities for the Dean's Office to include sabbaticals, research leave, leave of absences, and turnover and retention. Works with Associate Dean for Academic Affairs on tracking and reporting on impact of faculty leave and course releases on course availability, student retention, and graduation rates.

  • Represents the College of Fine Arts and serves as an organizational contact with University, state and accrediting agencies to include Human Resources, Payroll, Institutional Research, Provost's Office, Office of Faculty Development and Advancement, SACS, and arts specific accrediting agencies for faculty affairs information. Partners with other departments to assure that data requirements are met for institutional reporting. Responsible for the timely completion of reporting requirements to include accrediting agencies, surveys, and internal reporting. Compiles responses for requests from the internal and external partners with regard to faculty staffing data. Provides support and expertise to the CFA Promotion and Tenure Committee (ex-officio), Faculty Senate, and internal departmental faculty committees with regard to development of policies and procedures including faculty promotion and tenure processes, bylaws, graduate assistantship classifications and hiring, and faculty research.

  • Initiates long range planning, analyzes internal processes, and implements changes to improve operations or services. Participates in strategic planning and implements strategic initiatives, as well as policies and procedures ensuring consistency with the mission of the college and compliance with internal and external requirements, rules and regulations. Stays apprised of changes in state and federal laws, rules and regulations, and University policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and six years' experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and ten years of experience. (Note: or a combination post high school education and experience equal to ten years.)

Preferred Qualifications

We seek candidates with a strong background in HR policy management and knowledge and experience with faculty development, including promotion and tenure processes. The ideal candidate should have previous experience working with faculty hiring procedures and possess the ability to interpret statutes, policies, and procedures, providing clear guidance to administration. Previous work in higher education specifically with faculty human resources, development, and advancement further enhances the candidate's suitability for this role.
