Job Summary
The Department of Medicine, Section of Cardiology is looking for a Staff Scientist to work on: Cardiovascular research, with a focus on cell biology and signal transduction.
The Staff Scientist is expected to plan, execute, facilitate and advanced technical/scientific research projects. Designs, develops and tests experimental protocols for research (including empirical protocols, computational, statistical methods, etc.). Collaborates with other researchers as appropriate. Participates in the preparation and writing of grant applications and reports, and co-authors scientific research manuscripts. May supervise other research staff. May present work at scientific meetings and provide peer review of grant applications and scientific manuscripts. The individual in this role will be involved in all aspects of the design, development, implementation, and analysis of research projects focused on population variation in immune responses.
Responsibilities
Conducting research experiments, specifically in the area of cell biology, signal transduction, protein chemistry etc. Additional expertise in cloning and/or 'omic' techniques (transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics) would be considered a plus.
Assisting the Principal Investigator (PI) in designing new experiments.
Harvesting, analyzing, and interpreting data; drafting manuscripts.
Presenting data at research conferences.
Maintaining experimental databases, including animal and cell culture records.
Designs, develops and tests experimental protocols for research (including empirical protocols, computational, statistical methods, etc.).
Collaborates with other researchers as appropriate.
Participates in the preparation and writing of grant applications and reports, and co-authors scientific research manuscripts.
Serves as a resource for collecting data and performing analysis. Facilitates and promotes a research project by providing scientific or intellectual information.
Develops laboratory protocols and training on new techniques. Manage, analyze and make recommendations on complex data sets for research.
Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a PhD in related field.
