Job Description:

A construction company in Howard County, Maryland seeks a qualified Bookkeeper/Staff Accountant



RESPONSIBILITIES:



• Manage all day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting processes, including A/P, A/R, payroll, journal entries and bank reconciliation in QuickBooks.


• Reconcile all Value Dry accounts and financial records to help ensure accuracy of financial statements.


• Post financial transactions to accounts.


• Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, including deductions, benefits and taxes while complying with federal and state regulations.


• Assist the CPA with preparing and submitting tax returns and other statutory filings.


• Maintain an orderly financial filing system and ensure the confidentiality and security of all files.


• Assist with budget preparation and financial forecasts.


• Maintain all business licenses and ensure they are current and posted as required.


• Maintain all personnel records and assist with onboarding / offboarding of new / termed employees.


• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies and professional networking organizations; pursue ongoing training and development.



QUALIFICATIONS:

•Five to ten years' previous work experience as a bookkeeper or similar role, specifically using QuickBooks. Consumer Service/Home Improvement/Direct Home Sales marketplace preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or a related field or equivalent years of job experience required.
• Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and accounting systems.
• Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks with ability to analyze financial data and generate reports.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and other related office programs.
• Highly self-motivated, self-disciplined and driven to success.
• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and organizational skills.
• Customer-oriented with ability to effectively communicate using both verbal and written skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
