Job Description
Position Overview
The Director, Commercial Analytics will develop market forecasts for the different utility-scale generation projects, and advise Developers on potential future sites for various Clean Energy Technologies. Based out of Invenergy's downtown Chicago headquarters, the Director, Commercial Analytics will also be responsible for monitoring natural gas markets, and assisting with M&A and marketing activities.
Responsibilities
Identify the use of financial models and quantitative studies and programs needed to properly value development and operating projects
Recommend and justify short term and long term hedge strategies consistent with business practices and to assist with project development, asset acquisitions, and marketing activities
Creation of short, intermediate, and long-term forecasts of electricity markets and market conditions needed for Development and ISO/RTO bidding strategies
Direct the creation and maintenance of computer applications, analytical tools, and models to store and evaluate market data that support Development and Marketing
Work with Commercial Execution to establish and update long term pricing grids to enable optimization of existing assets
Engage with Asset Managers and Developers regarding operating plans for thermal and renewable assets
Required Skills
Five(+) years of experience in a utility/generator operations environment
Experience in PROMOD, Aurora, Plexos, Dayzure or a comparable modeling software
Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
Preferred Skills
Graduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or Finance
Demonstrable expertise with security constrained economic dispatch modeling and use of software packages and common data sources
The candidate will possess excellent written and oral communications skills to convey knowledge about commodity markets and its impact on electricity markets and customers (internal and external).
Salary Range
Salary Range: $160,000 - $190,000
