The successful candidate will be responsible for engineering and design efforts for construction plan sets including specifications, maintaining team standards and procedures, checking design calculations, and conducting project QA/QC. Municipal infrastructure design experience is required. Experience in utility infrastructure, such as potable water, sanitary sewer, and storm water systems, are foundational. Other areas of infrastructure experience including roadways, parks, and public facilities are a plus. The successful candidate will also support the planning and funding processes by helping with the development of project scopes and budgets. Coaching and mentoring junior staff will be essential.
Your Primary Focus
Prepare and manage scope, schedule, and budget for proposals and contracts.
Work collaboratively with architects, engineers, planners, and technicians.
Mentor less experienced staff and contribute to organizational growth.
Effectively communicate project goals, alternatives, recommendations, and outcomes to the project team, client, and public (memos, reports, presentations, etc.).
Ensure designs meet all regulatory standards and best practices.
Prepare engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Oversee stormwater management systems, green infrastructure, and conveyance.
Anticipate project issues, including advising the client on alternatives and providing recommendations for solving issues.
Timely and accurate completion of OHM and sub-consultant invoices and collections.
Business Development and Client Satisfaction.
Understanding OHM services and how they relate to the client's organization and needs.
What You'll Need to Succeed
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or environmental engineering with an emphasis in municipal infrastructure engineering.
Tennessee PE license is required.
5-10 years of experience in civil engineering municipal design.
Experience in roadway geometric design, intersection detail design, water main design, sanitary sewer design, and drainage design.
Experience with utility coordination.
Experience with State of Tennessee agencies, Nashville area agencies, and TDOT is a plus.
Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
The desire and ability to maintain strong client relationships.
The desire and ability to train junior engineers and interns.
Good organizational skills and enjoy working in a team environment.
