This position will be responsible for developing, growing, and enhancing food sales within the school market. The position will support our Kearney DC and report to the Corporate Institutional Sales Department Manager.
While ideally this position will work out of the Kearney, Nebraska, office, working remote with periodic travel to the corporate office as well as to visit clients, potential clients, and attend shows may be an option. Other ideal locations include Lincoln and Omaha, although qualified candidates from other areas including South Dakota, Kansas, and Iowa will be considered.
Duties and Responsibilities
Below is a listing of major focus areas and responsibilities
Program Development
Maintain current programs while continually reviewing for effectiveness
Review product stocking lists and evaluate new products
Maintain stocking lists, common order guides, etc.
Work with Purchasing to source products needed to fill voids.
Ensure product information is uploaded into company systems
Develop fliers and education pieces, reporting, and training materials
Help to support School Menu Programs
New Business Development
Identify a prospect list & work the sales funnel on target accounts to meet profitability and sales goals.
Develop proposals and presentations.
Work with Bid Coordinator to generate and submit formal bids and proposals.
Coordinate onboarding of new accounts and facilitate the transition of business to CWD
Analyze current accounts and develop and implement plans for account penetration.
Existing Account Maintenance
Build relationships with assigned accounts
Maintain customer account information in Customer Relationship Management Platform (CRM)
Consult with customers
Generate reports & evaluate profitability of accounts to meet pre-determined sales and profitability goals.
Conduct product demonstrations and sampling
Monitor pricing for accuracy.
Public Relations
Assist in planning for and participating in meetings and shows including CWD sponsored events as well as regional and state events such as trade shows, educational seminars, foodservice events, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training/Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent required; advance degree preferred
2 years of experience with sales, foodservice, and/or school lunch programs preferred
Knowledge of the National School Lunch Program and the Child & Adult Care Food Program, is preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize required

Strong communication skills to include individual settings and small to large groups
Basic computer skills required with an emphasis on strong Excel skills
