Position Purpose:

The Director of Title IX and Equal Opportunity Services, Sr. Deputy Title IX Coordinator is responsible for coordinating support, intake, and resolution of non-discrimination and Title IX matters as well as informal resolution. This is a newly created position that is central to the strategic goals of the College to create a safe and welcoming environment for the Dartmouth community. The Director will manage response, process, and resolution to reports of discrimination, harassment, relationship violence, sexual misconduct, stalking, and retaliation. In addition, the Director will assist with reviewing and updating internal protocols, policies, and processes.



Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp:

Masters or equivalent combination of education and experience


Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:



  • Significant knowledge of and experience in Title IX and civil rights compliance, complaint resolution, investigation, resolution efforts, and grievance processes in a higher education setting.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to interpret federal and state non-discrimination laws and regulations, including Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), Title IX, Title VII, Title VI, ADA, and other applicable laws and regulations.

  • Excellent critical thinking skills and a collaborative approach.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Experience building, developing, and supervising a high-performing team within a service organization.

  • Ability to develop and maintain productive, collaborative relationships and partnerships with senior College leaders and the campus community.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and project management skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex matters simultaneously in a time-sensitive environment.

  • Foster a climate of inclusion and equity and is sensitive to diverse perspectives and cultural norms.

  • Evidence of success working independently and collaboratively.

  • Ability to recommend and innovate ideas to organize and implement policy and process improvements, develop case management procedures, and record retention and document management protocols.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.


Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate - J.D. or another relevant advance degree.

  • Develop and manage a Title IX and Equal Opportunity program that manages response, process, and resolution to reports of discrimination, harassment, relationship violence, sexual misconduct, stalking, and retaliation.

  • Review and update internal protocols, policies, and processes in compliance with federal and state non-discrimination laws and regulations, including Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), Title IX, Title VII, Title VI, ADA, and other applicable laws and regulations.

  • Knowledge of applicable policies, regulations, and legal requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with key Dartmouth partners.

  • Create and manage training modules for team, and coordinate delivery of ongoing training to campus partners.

  • Establish and maintain clear, consistent methods for case management and response workflows, that are in line with best practices.

  • Develop and provide active oversight for case management processes and protocols.

  • Ensure consistent and efficient process implementation through establishing best practices and protocols including case templates, letter templates, case management and document retention policies.

  • Organize, manage, and report on the work of the Director of Title IX and EO services to Dartmouth leadership.

  • Create training and professional development programming plans for team.

  • Provide support to EOATIX initiatives as needed.
