For over 50 years, The University of Oklahoma Outreach, National Resource Center for Youth Services (NRCYS) has been improving the effectiveness of human services through training, capacity-building consultation, and other services. Over the years, our resources have helped support the missions of various human service organizations in Oklahoma and across the nation. 


Position Summary


The Trainer position will plan, coordinate, and deliver training for individuals and organizations serving children, youth, and families. The position will design, develop, and evaluate in-person training, online training, workshops, and other learning opportunities. The position will also provide technical assistance and consultation to support state and national initiatives of the National Resource Center for Youth Services (NRCYS).


Duties



  • Train professionals working with children, youth, and families to support state and national initiatives of NRCYS.

  • Design and develop workshops, online training, and other learning opportunities to support state and national initiatives of NRCYS.

  • Develop and deliver capacity-building consultation for individuals and organizations working with children, youth, and families.

  • Plan and coordinate projects, meetings, and events.

  • Identify, facilitate, and participate in internal and external collaborations on current trends, best practices, and program development through meetings, telephone, and email correspondence.

  • Create and develop best practice tools, activities, and resources to support service delivery and understanding.

  • Maintain knowledge and skills about legislation, best practices, and child, youth, and family services trends. 

  • Utilize data to guide work-related decisions. 

  • Plan and attend internal and external meetings.

  • Write reports, professional correspondence, and other project-related documents.

  • Uphold, safeguard, and engage in activities to support the University's mission, NRCYS vision, mission, values, and core principles of NRCYS.

Required  Education and Experience


Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or closely related field. AND


Combined Experience: 24-36 months in any of the following areas:



  • Youth work (children welfare, child/youth/family services, juvenile justice, treatment services).

  • Understanding service systems (mental health, community-based services, child welfare, education, etc.).

  • Training presentation and group facilitation.

  • Technical assistance and consultation.

  • Event planning and coordination.

  • Youth development and leadership activities.

  • Trauma responsive service provision.

  • Services to foster healthy youth development.

  • Services to foster healthy life span development.

  • Supporting children and youth in a successful transition to adulthood.

  • Evidence-based and research-informed practices.


Required Skills and Proficiencies




  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Cultural humility and responsiveness knowledge and skills, including understanding its relevance to training.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to provide high-quality services while managing multiple projects under strict deadlines.

  • Commitment to lifelong learning and professional development (including knowledge of accessing child welfare legislation and continuing education resources).

  • Ability to think critically, problem-solve, and exercise professional judgment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills (including the ability to deliver high-quality customer service and participate in departmental and cross-departmental work teams).

  • Working knowledge and skills with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.


Departmental Preferences




  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or closely related field.


Preferred Experience and Abilities




  • Training design, development, and evaluation (e.g., instructional design, adult learning principles).

  • Experience with online and blended learning development and delivery.

  • Experience collaborating with public and private child welfare and/or child and youth-serving organizations.

  • Knowledge regarding environmental and relational permanency.

  • Data collection and management.

  • Regional or national conference planning and/or workshop presentation.

  • National child welfare federal legislation, practices, policies, and initiatives.

  • Program assessment and evaluation.
