Position: Senior Tableau Cloud Administrator

Location: Alexandria, VA

Work Environment: Hybrid

Clearance Required: Interim Secret 

Status: Contingent

 

Knowesis is currently seeking a Senior Tableau Administrator to support a Data Analytics contract with the DoD Office of Inspector General. The Senior Tableau Administrator will identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in multiple Tableau environments (Tableau Server and Tableau Cloud. They will enforce data governance policies, adhere to DoD security protocols, manage access and content, and provide training and support on new features and updates.

 

This position requires a current/active minimum INTERIM SECRET clearance and U.S. Citizenship (applicants without proof of U.S. citizenship without the need for sponsorship now or in the future will not be considered due to the position's security requirement).

The Job Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:  

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot both Tableau Server and Tableau Online environments. Candidate must be able to optimize performance tuning based on various environments (e.g., SharePoint embedding, website embedding, Server and Online optimization


• Design, develop, and maintain responsive and scalable dashboard web applications based on customer requirements, and provide guidance on best practices.


• Integrate Tableau dashboards into websites using the Tableau Embedding API, particularly within the WEB.mil - AFPIMS system.


• Implement Tableau-connected apps using JWT authentication. Manage access, enable SSO, and authorize API access.


• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in Tableau Server, Tableau Online, and embedded dashboards in SharePoint and web applications. Monitor usage patterns, traffic to views, view load times, and stale content. Implement processes and standards for optimal server performance.


• Define and enforce data governance policies to ensure data quality and security.


• Manage users, groups, permissions, and content. Communicate new features and provide training and support.

Required Qualifications: 

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in Tableau Server/Online administration.


• Web application development skills, including JavaScript, API integration, Authentication Methods (SSO, CAC-enabled, JWT), Responsive Scaling.


• Proficiency with Tableau Embedding API and integration.


• Expertise in Tableau-connected apps and JWT authentication.


• Proven experience and strategies for optimizing Tableau Server and workbook performance.


• Knowledge of data governance and security practices.


• Experience managing Tableau users, groups, and content.


• Effective communication and training skills, especially with Senior Executive demonstrations and discussions.


• Elevated/Administrative Rights needed to complete the installation of all software, subject to OCIO approval (must show proof of completing security+ certification or equivalent per OCIO guidance).
  
   

Preferred Qualifications:  

• Familiarity with Defense Media Agency (DMA)’s WEB.mil - AFPIMS.


• Expertise with Tableau REST API and Metadata API.


• Ability to enable SSO without IdP integration.

Required Certifications 

• Tableau Server Associate

Required Education: 

• Bachelor's Degree required
