Associate Director of Video Content at University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma

Job Description:

The University of Oklahoma Athletics Department is looking for candidates that have a passion for both collegiate athletics and creative media production. The Associate Director of Video Content is a highly skilled video producer that is responsible for creating content that drives fan affinity, promotes the Oklahoma brand and generates engagement through digital media. Reporting directly to the Director of Video Content, the Associate Director of Video Content will serve as the primary point of contact for one of OU’s premiere sports, create football specific content, and assist all sports programs with content across multiple platforms as needed. The ideal candidate will have a high degree of cinematography, editing and post-production skill. A heavy emphasis will be placed on the candidate’s demo reel. 


Essential Functions: 



  • Cinematography and Storytelling

  • Adobe Creative Suite or similar post-production software

  • Supervise and manage students in the student production assistant program

  • Provide instruction, teaching material and hands-on training for undergraduate students in the position

  • Collaborate cross-departmentally with external staff and athletic department constituents

  • Perform day-to-day technical and logistical problem solving to further the mission of SoonerVision and the OU Athletics department

  • Work closely with assigned sports to produce video content across multiple forward-facing platforms including, but not limited to, social media, big screen, and television

  • Collaborate with the creative content team, in addition to producing video content, the team of creators produce select live productions and studio shows that air on SoonerVision on ESPN+ in conjunction with ESPN guidelines

  • Create motion graphics, game recaps, player profiles, hype videos, major award videos, post-game edits, and other media for distribution across multiple media platforms

  • Capture practice, in-game, and other related content for the assigned sport

  • Perform various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Marketing, Journalism or related field AND;



  • 24 months of experience in creative media, sports production or related field.


Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience.


Skills: 



  • Adobe Creative Suite or similar video production tools

  • Live Event Production

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines

  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing

  • Ability to build rapport with students, faculty, and staff

  • Ability to produce reports and complete work within deadlines

  • Strong initiative to solve problems in a timely manner


Certification:



  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License in order to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date.


Advertised Physical Requirements:



  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (video equipment that is constantly moved)

  • Be able to sit and look at a computer for prolonged periods

  • Engage in repetitive motion

  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods

  • Requires work during non-business hours


Department Preferences:



  • Knowledge and understanding of NCAA and Conference rules

  • Experience with intercollegiate athletics
