Job Description:

Summary of Duties:

Design, analyze, and execute mechanical aspects of electronic products to meet or exceed hardware requirements including validation, thermal, waterproof, etc. Responsible for mechanical interface design and development of battery systems electronics. Responsible for mechanical design of Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) enclosures. Responsible for mechanical requirements for electronics hardware and making sure they meet current and future battery management system level requirements, strategies, and cost. Design mechanical components to ensure compatibility with manufacturing processes and integration with the battery system. Responsible for mechanical Bill of Materials (BOM), piece part cost, and tooling costs. Creation and revision of production documentation. Communicate with the manufacturing team to determine electronic mechanical design for products manufacturing process. Perform tolerance, thermal, vibration, and Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA), verification tests, design reviews, and create design justification for product development life cycle documentation completion. Support new business quote activities and provide in-depth understanding of best-in-class design and statistical methods. Bring innovative technology to the mechanical design of electronics meeting current and future Original Equipment Manufacturer program requirements for battery management systems electronic products.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study and 5 years of progressive experience in product design, manufacturing or any combination thereof. Employer will accept a Master’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study and 3 years of experience in product design, manufacturing or any combination thereof, in lieu of Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 5 years of progressive experience.

Applicants must have demonstrated experience with:

1) 3 years of experience performing thermal and structural analysis, using FEA (Finite Element Analysis);

2) 3 years of experience designing assemblies in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD (Computer Aided Design);

3) 3 years of experience performing electronics PCBA thermal analysis utilizing FEA analysis tools like Ansys;

4) 3 years of automotive component experience;

5) 2 years of experience with mechanical packaging design and analysis for electronics;

6) 2 years of experience programing and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine;

7) Utilizing Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) creating an integrated design meeting form, fit and functional requirements;

8) Applying Computational Fluid Dynamics principles in structural and thermal simulations;

9) Engineering materials and manufacturing methods including prototyping, process development and mass production; and

10) Utilizing product lifecycle management (PLM) software tools.

Any and all experience may be gained concurrently.
