The Field Environment, Health, Safety, & Sustainability Manager for the Midwest is an integral member of the EHS&S Team.
The Field Environment, Health, Safety, and Sustainability Manager - Midwest will collaborate and execute the implementation of compliance strategies to ensure the attainment of DuBois short and long term EHS&S improvement goals and current written programs.
The Field Environment, Health, Safety, and Sustainability Manager - Midwest requires a thinker and a doer. This is a "Boots on the Ground" role that will require the selected candidate to identify risk, create solutions, and implement the improvement process. This role is equally strategic as it is tactical.
This is not a remote position.
Although this position requires a minimum of 30% travel, this position will be on-site at our corporate headquarters in Sharonville, OH or in Rockford, IL.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide EHS strategic planning and tactical implementation to assigned sites, corporate EHS&S day-to-day operations, and companywide EHS&S improvement initiatives
Point of Contact for the management and organization of paper and electronic EHS&S related data, statistics, and other pertinent records
Own the deployment of training with our EHS software tools (i.e., SharePoint Safety Portal, CAPA, MOC, contractor/visitor training, etc.)
Provide oversight for all Compliance Calendars and OSHA 300 logs at the corporate level
Responsible for compiling and tracking all air emissions, storm water, and wastewater discharge data for all sites as required by any site-specific permit
Review and provide guidance on submissions of all site-specific regulatory documentation to local, state, and federal government agencies (i.e. Tier II reporting, TRI reporting, Hazardous Waste reports, site-specific air emission reports, storm water Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs), and etc.) This role will often be the executioner of this objective
Oversee the maintenance and effectiveness of local, state, and federal required written plans (i.e. Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan, etc.)
Assist the EHS&S Team in drafting companywide EHS&S programs and finalize them after feedback in alignment with Manufacturing that are on time and technically correct to move DuBois towards common programs that are Suitable, Adequate and Effective (SAE)
Develop corresponding EHS&S training and lead training for all locations either in-person or via computer-based training systems
Be part of an internal audit team performing multi-media audits
Support timely completion of all corporate internal and external audits, reports, and incident investigations
Lead or assist with investigations of all EHS incidents (i.e. near miss, critical, OSHA recordable, etc.)
Participate in the EHS capital project reviews and other safety reviews of processes and projects at our locations
Lead and engage the plant level Safety Committee meetings for multiple sites
Assist with EHS&S related questionnaires to support business operations
Qualifications & Requirements
5+-Years of Professional EHS&S experience
EHS&S experience in chemical manufacturing or industrial environment
Strong working knowledge of both OSHA and EPA regulations
Collaborative team player with proven interpersonal relationship skills and the ability to engage with all levels of the organization and present formal and informal training
Experience with EHS regulatory compliance including analysis of regulatory impact, development of draft compliance programs, education and training of personnel, auditing, and reporting of compliance status
Ability to apply regulations to field applicability to recognize compliance, best practices, and/or gaps to the regulations
Task oriented and able to function with basic guard rails and clear directives to achieve completion of tasks with a high level of accuracy and quality
Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement efforts and corrective actions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to communicate plant employees, vendors, customers, auditors, and senior leaders
Proficient with business software platforms
Working knowledge of ISO 9001 / 14001 experience
Proficient in Microsoft Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Dynamics [D365]
Must be willing to be on the front line of implementation and change
A professional and positive demeanor
30% Travel required
EDUCATION REQUREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree required
Bachelor's Degree in Environment, Health, and/or Safety or a related field
Management or Leadership Training preferred
Advanced course work in EHS, chemistry, or engineering with chemical industry experience preferred
Experience with continuous improvement activities, i.e., Kaizen, Plan - Do - Check - Act (PDCA), six sigma, etc. preferred
OTHER INFORMATION
Frequent exposure to wet and humid conditions (non-weather); fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat (non-weather) and loud noise levels.
Working conditions are a mix of office and manufacturing environment; significant walking, climbing
