Wood is seeking Subject Matter Experts (SME) to join our Technical Consulting - Process & Chemicals (TC P&C) team for the Americas region in the following Areas of Expertise (AOE):
Ammonia/Methanol
Sustainable Aviation Fuel
Refining Plant configuration (LP Modelling)
Wood's dynamic and collaborative TC P&C team focuses on early phase evaluation for worldwide clients throughout the emerging and traditional energy space. Our TC P&C team leads Wood's strategic initiative to acquire and execute projects in the Energy Transition, Hydrogen Economy, Decarbonization, and Conventional Fuels arena.
In this role, the SME will interact directly with clients to support their decision making in exciting new energy projects and fast paced investment opportunities. The SME is responsible for:
Capturing Business in their AOE
Provide expertise in:
Due diligence reviews,
New technology evaluations and selections,
Feasibility and conceptual design,
Debottlenecking, yield, and energy improvement assessments, and
Pre-FEED studies.
Attend Conferences and prepare Technical Papers
The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of emerging energy transition technologies in the areas of hydrogen, ammonia, methanol and carbon capture or a strong technical background in downstream, refining, and petrochemicals.
A successful candidate will be able to support several studies at the same time without missing milestones and enjoy constantly updating their technical skills by researching new technologies and presenting our novel results at industry forums.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities:
Act as Seller/Doer
Collaborate, execute, and provide technical support to studies within Wood's TC P&C team.
Work closely with customers to understand their business drivers and produce designs and services to meet their needs.
Identify issues and propose solutions using innovative and novel ideas, including the ability to grasp unfamiliar concepts.
Lead and/or support conceptual and feasibility studies, optimization work, and pre-FEED stage projects.
Work independently to complete technical assignments to a high standard using Wood and Client design methods or typical industry standards and data.
Create a solid professional network within your immediate discipline and actively develop connections in the wider business community.
Grow our technical capabilities by coaching and mentor less experienced staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
Chemical Engineering Degree
15+ years direct consulting or industry experience.
Experience with a range of energy transition, downstream, refining or petrochemical technologies.
Experience in the execution of conceptual studies, optimization work, and front-end engineering design stage of projects.
Familiarity with design of process units and industry-wide process simulation software (HYSYS, ProMAX, ProTreat, LP modeling, etc.)
Ability to analyze problems and systematically break a complex task into more manageable parts and identify the critical components of a problem. Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
Demonstrates a strong customer focus and team-working skills.
Readily adaptable with excellent communication skills.
