Compensation: $130,400 - $171,150 (depending on experience)

Overview

The Operations Manager is a strategic leader with a strong background in manufacturing management with ability to provide leadership, guidance, strategic planning, and sustainable execution of goals and objectives to achieve the highest level of success for the plant. Responsible for streamlining maintenance and production activities to ensure optimal efficiency while driving continuous improvement efforts, building talent succession and people capabilities. This position supports a good standing in the community, sustainable operations, and adheres to and upholds all company policies, safety standards and federal / state regulations.

Roles & Responsibilities


  • Dedicated to following the company's Mission, Vision, and Values; Leading by example and committed to the health and safety of all employees, contractors, and visitors by adhering to company policies, governmental regulations, and federal/state laws.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operational performance of the plant including review and understanding of plant performance metrics. Implementing efficient manufacturing processes and strategies to optimize productivity and minimize downtime.
  • Work collaboratively with Department Managers to create and execute action plans to ensure adherence to production schedules, quality standards, cost standards, shipping plans, and inventory levels.
  • In conjunction with the Plant Manager ensure the plant's performance is within the approved operating budget and forecasts while monitoring and developing ways to reduce costs.
  • Plan together with Maintenance all equipment corrective, preventive, and major outages, with the objective of a safe and efficient execution.
  • Assist in driving the use of various continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma and RCA Programs, focusing on operational excellence, waste reduction, and cost optimization.
  • Work closely with the Human Resources Department to ensure proper selection and retention of team members, identifying and addressing skill gaps through training and development initiatives. Aligning on corrective behaviors, investigation outcomes and talent changes as needed.
  • Ensure the fostering of a safe and inclusive work environment that encourages employee engagement and continuous learning by providing regular feedback and promoting a culture of accountability and collaboration.
  • Attend and professionally represent the company in community/social events including interactions with the union.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's or closely related degree in Business Management, Administration, Engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
  • 7-10 years progressive experience in key management roles within a manufacturing environment (experience in cement a plus).
  • Must have working knowledge of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, maintenance, engineering, and budgeting/expense management.
  • Strong Analytical skills - using data to develop insights and actions and srong data visualization skills
  • Understanding of Operational Excellence (OpEx); (Six Sigma training a plus)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint and the ability to learn other systems utilized by the company to conduct business and presentation skills with ability to effortlessly communicate to leadership.
  • Ability to work under pressure, set priorities and complete goals and objectives in a timely and orderly manner
  • Due to the nature of this position, it is essential that the teammate be available to report to the designated work site / office and be ready to begin work when scheduled.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening which may include a physical, background check, and drug screen.

Frequent exposure to walking on rocky, irregular surfaces that may be muddy and in reduced lighting conditions, moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, high and/or confined spaces, fumes, airborne particles, outside weather conditions and explosives. Occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to fifty (50) lbs. independently and tolerate moderate noise levels.
