MATERIAL PLANNER II at BEST FORMULATIONS LLC in City of Industry, California

Job Description:

Founded in 1984, Best Formulations LLC, a diversified nutraceutical and personal care company headquartered in City of Industry, California, is a contract manufacturer of thousands of branded SKUs, including high quality nutritional supplements including softgels, tablets, capsules, powders, teas, dietary supplements, and vegetarian softgels.

About the role:

As a Material Planner II, You will be responsible for all raw material planning including packaging components. This position will be responsible for determining how much and when raw material and packaging components are needed to satisfy customer demands.  The Material Planner will leverage various tools such as ERP systems or spreadsheet in identifying and expediting material requirements, and provide investigative research into inventory usage anomalies resulting in excessive planning or procurement activity. Overseeing Master Schedules/MRP cycles while monitoring the appropriate materials to support the schedules in a timely manner to ensure due dates and production priorities are met.

How will you contribute:

• Observe daily Master Schedules and MRP cycles to support timely material availability and ensure production priorities are met.


• Coordinate and communicate with Buyers to ensure timely and appropriate material purchases.


• Analyze production plans and plant capacity data to identify trends, resource requirements, and constraints.


• Monitor production activity to ensure smooth material flow and meet production requirements, finished goods, and forecast stocking levels.


• Manage and maintain inventory levels for raw materials, sub-assemblies, WIP, and finished goods.


• Develop short and long-term inventory projections in unit and dollar values.


• Maintain strong knowledge of MRP systems, including time fences, demand input, consumption rules, and troubleshooting.


• Monitor and analyze key planning parameters such as safety stocks, buffer stocks, and lot sizes.


• Assist in determining make or buy quantities for raw materials based on past usage.


• Support the development and maintenance of Bills of Materials.


• Adjust purchase requisitions based on inventory changes.


• Track material supply schedules and maintain inventory level objectives.


• Establish and maintain Kanban systems for certain materials.


• Analyze inventory obsolescence and transaction reports, recommending actions with Sales, R&D, and Operations.


• Ensure timely ordering and release of materials to meet operational deadlines.


• Resolve errors or conflicts in supplier records with warehouse and purchasing teams.


• Follow established SOPs, cGMP regulations, and batch record instructions.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent GED Certificate.  College degree preferred.


• 3-5 years or more years of work experience in a fast-paced work environment


• APICS Certification is a plus.

Work Environment:

This position is currently classified as on-site.

Base Salary Range: $68,500.00 - $80,000.00, based on candidate professional experience level. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Holidays, Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program.

The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
