Job Description:

Hispanic Affairs Reporter The Times-News, the most prominent local news organization serving an eight-county region of southern Idaho known as the Magic Valley, is seeking a reporter to cover Hispanic life and affairs.

This position is a reflection of the Times-News' commitment to the diverse perspectives of its readership. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Hispanic culture, a passion for community journalism, and the ability to craft compelling, accurate stories. Bilingual reporters who fluently speak Spanish are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities include reporting on a variety of topics impacting the Hispanic community, establishing connections with local leaders and organizations, producing multimedia content, conducting interviews, collaborating with the editorial team in a digital-first newsroom, and engaging with readers through various platforms. Previous journalism experience is preferred.

The largest city in the Magic Valley with a population of about 56,000, Twin Falls is home to the region's top medical facility (St. Luke's Magic Valley) and one of the top junior colleges in the country (College of Southern Idaho). Retail shopping includes Costco, Target, Walmart, Fred Meyer and American Eagle, plus many others. Olive Garden, Texas Roadhouse, Applebee's and Red Robin are among the chain restaurants.

Outdoor opportunities abound - from hiking and cycling to skiing and watersports, even BASE jumping from the Perrine Bridge, which spans a canyon about 500 feet above the Snake River. It's the eighth highest bridge in the U.S. and the only legal destination nationally for year-round BASE jumping.
