Job Summary:

The Collector III serves the Credit Union as a specialist for accounts that are past due and related activities to these accounts. An individual in this role will also spend a significant portion of their time actively engaged in making outbound telephone calls and preparing letters to solicit loan payments on past due accounts. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Make outbound phone calls to solicit loan payments; receives inbound calls related to Collections accounts. Prepare letters to solicit loan payments


• Perform Spectrum transactions such as OREO transactions, reversal of payments, and Credit Reporting changes via Spectrum.


• Performs accounting functions such as entering accounting entries in end-of-month reports and produces end- of-month reports. Assists in balancing GL accounts for the Collections/Accounting Departments


• Attend court proceedings on behalf of the Credit Union.  Be able to verbally communicate the Credit Union’s viewpoint in a professional environment.


• Maintain knowledge of branch operations by completing Deposit Regulation and Product and Service Certification courses.


• Proactively demonstrate the TVFCU core values of integrity, honesty, flexibility, teamwork, leadership, accountability and strong relationships in every interaction with members.


• Perform other duties as assigned

Educational and Work Experience Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent


• Prior Collections experience in a Credit Union or other financial institution is preferred.


• Knowledge and ability to apply the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act and Bankruptcy law.


• High degree of attention to detail and ability to meet time sensitive deadlines.


• Proven skills in performing business math calculations and basic accounting functions.


• Proven skills in utilizing Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.


• Ability to work well with others in a team environment.


• Must have strong communication skills and possess a high level of interpersonal skills to discuss financial situations in a tactful manner.
