Your Role: Pet Health District Sales Manager

As a District Sales Manager, you will coach and lead a district of approximately 10 territories in the US Pet Health Veterinary Sales Organization. As the Pet Health organization embarks on a historic launch period, your leadership will be critical to the success of Elanco.

Your Responsibilities:


  • Recruiting, interviewing, and selecting a team of representatives to represent Elanco’s companion animal products and direct the effort of our strategic partners


  • Responsible for achieving a specified District sales objective across all product categories.


  • Responsible for developing and executing business plans with the corporate veterinary account headquarters within the district’s defined geography.


  • Development of a business plan for the utilization of all the provided resources to accomplish the planned objectives of the district.


  • Execute business plans to maximize sales through strategic partners by collaborating across the strategic partnerships team and regional channel leadership. Responsible for the analysis and evaluation of reporting metrics and business reports to ensure the placement and utilization of resources for maximum business results.


  • Responsible for the implementation of the marketing plans through the representatives to key veterinary hospitals and across all the channel partners.


What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):


  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree; Or High School Diploma / GED with equivalent level of experience


  • Experience: Minimum of at least 5 years veterinary sales experience and/or previous experience managing a sales team, leading in strategic accounts. Minimum of 2 years of people influence (leadership/management) experience is ideal. 


  • Top Skills: Strong coaching and leadership skills to deliver maximum results


  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Elanco does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.


What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):


  • In-depth knowledge of companion animal veterinary products, the companion animal market, and products available


  • Ability to influence without authority.


  • Previous management experience or demonstrated ability beyond individual contributor roles


  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, business acumen, computer skills, excellent speaking and presentation skills.


  • Ability to convey messages and motivate various audiences.


  • Ability to make decisions within the context of uncertainty and ambiguity


  • Strategic thinking


  • Strong planning and executional skills


  • Experience with performance management, succession planning and channel partner/strategic account leadership and development.


  • Advanced degree in business or work experience as sales trainer are both positive attributes


  • Uses analytics and insights to enhance decision-making and execution across the business.

Elanco currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from $114,600 to $197,700, depending partly on the successful candidate’s qualifications, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending partly on company and individual performance). Additionally, Elanco offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees that includes a company-matching 401(k); vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities). Of course, the compensation is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described above.
