Obtain the highest quality mammograms following the ACR/FDA requirements. Obtain patient history, locate prior examinations and prepare paperwork for the radiologist's interpretation. Assist management in the day-to-day operation of the modality.


  • Minimum Required: Associate of Science Degree in Radiology Technology.
  • Bachelors Degree in Business or Purchasing Management preferred
  • Registered as a Radiologic Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology
  • Current licensure by the State of Ohio as a Radiographer. Advanced certification in mammography
  • Certified Materials & Resource Professional (CMRP) preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years in Mammography

  • Performs mammographic and DEXA procedures in accordance with established protocols, which includes, but is not limited to, reviewing for appropriateness and completeness of patient histories and requested services. Explains procedures to patients.
  • Prepares images, prior studies and paperwork including patient history and location of previous films. Submits completed studies to the radiologists for interpretation. Faxes release form to appropriate facility for release of previous mammograms. Follows up films are received in timely manner. Digitizes images, insures images are available for radiologist in Dx Secure View.
  • Maintains appropriate records and supplies. Assists with meeting all requirements for the different accreditations.
  • Participates in continuing education activities related to the field of Mammography. Obtains and maintains required licensure. Demonstrates and maintains skill in providing care for patients of specific age groups, such as adult and geriatric, through in-service and continuing education.
  • Performs evaluative equipment tests and participates in Quality Assurance program.
  • Qualifies patients for funding programs. Maintains record of results. Tracks grant funds.
  • Tracks patient results and notifies appropriate parties to ensure proper follow up is obtained. Does all follow up of abnormal mammograms including calling patients to schedule return appointments.
  • Performs Stereotactic breast biopsies to include scheduling exam with patient, post procedure follow up of patients to include phone call, obtaining biopsy results, faxing to referring physician, tracking in appropriate systems and informing radiologist of results.
  • Participates in candidate selection for the area and assures the new hires are properly oriented to the modality. Also provides input to manager for annual performance appraisals and annual competency reviews.
  • Ensure that new employees are properly oriented and are aware of the performance expectations for their position.
  • Oversight of and participation in Modality QC/QA. Oversight of modality accreditation/regulatory programs. Participation in PI activities for the department.
  • Establish work goals or quantitative/qualitative standards to be achieved with staff input.
  • Maintain a motivational and supportive working environment for staff.
  • Assists manager with resolution of issues/problems related to patients, staff, and operations.
  • Provide opportunities for employee development through in-services and continuing education.
  • Ensures staffing in area by preparing daily staffing schedules, approval of time off requests, and flexing staffing in periods of low census/volume.
  • Train, develop and motivate employees to maintain desired performance standards and to prepare for other job opportunities.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to inform employees of organizational development necessary for their job responsibilities.
  • Communicate and administer personnel programs and procedures of area in accordance with approved policies.
