Position Summary:



We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer who will play a crucial role in driving innovation through the utilization of both established and innovative single-use technologies. This position will be responsible for assisting customers with their requests for customized products by engaging in activities such as conceptualization, research, design, and evaluation. The day-to-day responsibilities of this role encompass a wide range of development and new designs, both in the upstream and downstream processes. The engineer will work diligently to support the new product development team by generating designs, test plans, report and data and ensuring that all new products meet the functional requirements for their intended use.



Responsibilities:



  • Collaborate closely with colleagues to develop comprehensive experiment plans, implement studies, and analyze and optimally communicate the results and recommendations through both verbal and written channels.

  • Apply advanced engineering analysis and modeling techniques, including heat and mass transfer, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), surface chemistry, and biological networks, to assess the performance of various components and systems.

  • Play a key role in transferring technology from research to the development phase, ensuring a detailed transition. Implement the Product Commercialization Process (PCP) to ensure efficient and effective product launches. Take charge of coordinating, assisting, or conducting process characterization and validation studies, whether internally or in collaboration with external partners. Provide valuable support in problem-solving initiatives and actively give to continuous process and product improvements.

  • Maintain meticulous documentation of experimental results and concepts to bolster the organization's patent and intellectual property portfolio. Collaborate closely with customers and field representatives to explore innovative product and process concepts, including participating in alpha and beta testing. Be prepared to travel as needed to fulfill job responsibilities Collaborate with team members to develop experiment plans, conduct studies, and analyze and communicate the results and recommendations in both verbal and written formats.

  • Support problem-solving efforts and drive continuous process and product improvements.

  • Maintain documentation of experimental results and concepts to contribute to the patent and intellectual property portfolio. Collaborate with customers and field representatives to explore new product and process concepts, including participating in alpha and beta testing.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering - Mechanical, biological, biomedical, bioprocess, biotechnology, chemical or materials.

  • 0 - 1 years of experience.


Following skills desired:



  • Laboratory research or biotechnology process development experience.

  • Knowledge of general bioprocess operations (cell culture, microbial fermentation, harvest & recovery) and cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) type environments.

  • Experience in the medical device or biopharmaceutical industries.

  • Software proficiency: MS office programs, SAS/JMP, DOE, Matlab/Simulink, CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD a plus).

  • Automation and instrumentation proficiency: knowledge of Delta-V, PLC, PAC based bioreactor control systems and supporting unit operations.

  • Team oriented

  • Basic project management skills (time management, interpret Gantt charts)


Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:



  • BS or MS engineering degree in applicable technical field.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently.

  • Ability to work well in a group environment.

  • This position may include travel up to 10%
