The Court Associate assists the public with tasks at the Municipal Court, treating each person with respect and providing excellent customer service. Typical duties include preparing cases for the court docket and processing all paperwork in the court system. The Court Associate answers questions regarding procedures and functions of the court system, issues warrants and letters, processes payments, and performs other clerical duties supporting the operation of the Municipal Court.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications – Education, experience, and training that are required or desirable in order to effectively perform the job at the time of hire. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements and/or substitutions may be requested and require the approval of HR.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience required. Additional job-related degrees or certifications may be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Cash handling experience required.
  • Municipal experience desired.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with this position.

  • Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and transcription, designing forms, and workplace terminology.
  • Proficient keyboard skills.
  • Basic accounting skills.
  • Ability to follow clear and established processes.
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision, and to deliver own work according to specific operational targets within the department.
  • Ability to complete routine and more robust tasks assigned in a timely manner.
  • Ability to provide exceptional service to internal and external customers. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, co-workers, and customers by telephone, in writing, and in person.
  • Ability to use good judgment and think rationally in difficult or stressful situations.
  • Ability to develop goals and plans to prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential job duty. Job requires being reliable, responsible and dependable.
