Job Description Summary



Perform production procedures as required to fulfill the daily production plan. Responsible for Mixer 1, Mixer 2 and V-Mixer, hand add additions and all mixer change overs on the mixer deck as required. This position may be required to work any shift or all days of the week in accordance with production schedules.



Job Description




Position Responsibilities:




Mixer Expectations





  • Under the direction of the Production Lead or Team Leader Area Production you will be in charge of all activities on the mixer deck, including hand adds and change overs according to the daily plan.

  • Maintain mixer samples less than 1 min.

  • Maintain mixer preloads less than 5 min.

  • Ability to maximize efficiency between both mixers by making hand adds, pre-loading hand adds, getting samples for both mixers simultaneously.

  • Responsible for accurate ticketing and scanning of ingredients into WIP and in FIFO.

  • Responsible for directing forklift driver to get ingredients in a timely manner.

  • Be able to coordinate your breaks and lunch with componentor operator.

  • Inspect mixer deck at the beginning of each shift and report deficiencies.

  • Able to manage mixer changeovers effectively and efficiently.

  • Know how to operate mixer for color injector.

  • Know how to clean color injector.

  • Know how to make batches of color IC0057 and IC0264.

  • Know how to operate color shaker.

  • Know how operate the V-Mixer to make IC107.




Bag Dump Level and Dosi Filling Expectations





  • Under the direction of the Production Lead or Team Leader Area Production you will be in charge of filling bag dumps, dosis, and unloading supersacks with ingredients according to the daily transfer plan.

  • Maintain the daily inventory bin levels in bag dumps, and have dosis set up for current, and the next campaign, with back-ups ready as needed.

  • Inspect HACCP control point on the dosi filler at the start of each shift, and report to QA department.

  • Coordinate with warehouse when Crane 1 is out of service and ingredients are needed at end-of-aisle.

  • Responsible for accurate ticketing and scanning of ingredients.

  • Responsible for directing forklift driver to get ingredients in a timely manner.

  • Be able to multi task efficiently when using multiple dosis, and coordinating dosi swaps.

  • Be able to manage your breaks and lunch, and provide coverage for the mixer deck operator to maximize production efficiency, and maintain inventory levels.

  • Inspect the dosi moving hoist at the beginning and end of each shift.

  • Inspect grates of all bag dumps at the beginning and end of each shift.




Record Keeping



  • Interaction with the HMI computer required.

  • Effective use of RF scanning guns to initiate inventory transactions into the process control system.

  • Turn in all tickets scanned and turned in to the lead at the end of shift. (All tickets must be accounted for)

  • Maintain proper mixer hand add sign offs, changeover sheets, HACCP checks and other logs as required.




Housekeeping, GMP's, and Policy





  • Know the difference between allergen and non-allergen products and follows the allergen separation policy.

  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and food safety policies.

  • Comply with all safety regulations, including Lockout and Confined Space procedures.

  • Report all close calls, accidents/injuries and unsafe working conditions to management.

  • Ensure that all tools and equipment are properly stored when not in use.

  • Other sanitation duties as required to maintain a clean and safe environment.




Additional Skills and Expectations





  • Possess a deep knowledge and understanding of the mixer and have a high ability to troubleshoot problems with minimal to no help.

  • Use FIFO methodology combined with the daily addition plan to ensure that all ingredients are used in the order in which they are received.

  • Must be forward thinking and possess a high ability to plan and execute multiple tasks at once.

  • Elevated attention to detail.

  • Exhibits ability to consistently and accurately process verbal and/or written instructions.

  • Prioritize multiple tasks to maximize work efficiency.

  • Report immediately any defective or broken tools or equipment.

  • Complete non-mixer deck related tasks when necessary.

  • Accomplish other related work as required.




Basic & Preferred Qualifications




Position Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; or up to three months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Basic mathematical skills. (Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.)

  • Ability to retrieve data from a computer HMI (Human Machine Interface).

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, especially food production, is helpful.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as formulas, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Will be required to cross-train in other production positions.

  • Must be able to understand and apply plant safety rules including, but not limited to the lockout-tag-out procedure, chemical hazards and the hearing conservation program.

  • Must be able to stand for extended time periods, constantly walk up/down stairs or other elevated structures.

  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally team lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.



  • Ability to occasionally perform job duties in dusty conditions, with possible exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.

  • Ability to work safely in close proximity to moving mechanical parts and forklifts.

  • Must be self-driven and able to occasionally work in high, precarious places, and under minimal supervision while maintaining position expectations.
