A DAY IN THE LIFE
Enthalpy Analytical, is part of the larger organization, Montrose Environmental Group, is comprised of 9 laboratories servicing air, water, soil, and toxicity testing. Regulations drive the need for our services, but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance.
Our Orange, CA facility is currently seeking a Full-Time Laboratory Assistant to join our team.
Compensation: $17.00/hour + 10% shift differential pay upon completion of training (Adj. Hourly Rate $18.70/hour)
As a key member of the laboratory team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
Preparing samples for digestion or extraction as needed (includes but is not limited to: weighing soils, making composites, crushing samples, incremental sampling, product sampling, etc)
Perform dish washing and cleaning approximately 80% of shift
Perform laboratory maintenance, upkeep, and sample archiving/disposal approximately 20% of shift
Preparing reagents as needed
Conducting simple water quality assays
Data entry
Facility housekeeping/maintenance
Perform routine repetitive motions such as scrubbing, rinsing, drying, and stacking glassware
Responsible for proper disposal of samples according to laboratory protocols
Perform calibration verification of laboratory equipment such as thermometers and balances
Conduct inventory of laboratory supplies and chemicals
Restock laboratory cabinets and storage areas with supplies and chemicals as needed
Perform support tasks as needed
Comply with Enthalpy's Quality Assurance Program and other policies
Comply with Enthalpy's Health and Safety Plan
Other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director
YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
High School Diploma
Basic laboratory techniques (knowledge of PPE, use of balance, pipetting, glassware handling, etc)
Basic Excel skills required
Must be comfortable working with strong acids and solvents
Excellent communication skills required
Detailoriented
Must be able to work in a stationary position for entire shift duration
Must be able to lift and move up to 25 lbs independently and 50 lbs using assisted lifting equipment
PREFERRED SKILLS
Prior Laboratory experience preferred but not required as this is an entry level position
Knowledge of analytical method, analytical instruments, general lab practices and lab safety
Ability to work independently and in a team
Good organizational skills and strong communication skills
