Vituity Locations: Vituity has opportunities at 450 practices across the country, serving 8 million patients a year. As part of the Vituity Scribe Program, there are multiple opportunities to fit your needs, including gaining experience in units such as the Emergency Department, Intensivist Care, Telemetry and Medical-Surgical.

The Opportunity


  • Participate in weekly startup calls with central scribe/ICS team.
  • Support the onsite Scribe Program Manager and Medical Director during the training and rollout, this includes:

    • Performing "demonstration" shifts with the site physicians
    • Create onsite training schedule in coordination with site Scribe Manager
    • Contact newly hired scribes via email and phone to coordinate training schedule
    • Assist onboarding team with ensuring new scribes are completing their onboarding paperwork and hospital requirements by set deadlines
    • Onsite assessment of equipment for bedside documentation
    • Coordinate with onsite HR and IT to ensure scribes are cleared to work and able to log onto the computers
    • Ensure all training materials are ordered and arrive before training begins
    • Be a resource for training questions or concerns
  • Provide on-site training to include the following:

    • Ensure scribes have completed the pre-classroom training and compliance training
    • Conduct didactic training, which includes medical terminology, EMR documentation, History of Present Illness (HPI) writing tutorials, and scenarios.
    • Facilitate, administer and grade classroom and final competency exams
    • Facilitate at least 5 clinical practice shifts for each scribe and assist in completion of an orientation checklist to determine that the trainee is competent to perform all duties required as a scribe on his/her own.
    • Ensure precision of each trainee by providing constructive feedback
    • Complete performance evaluations on each new scribe at the end of each training shift
  • Identify potential site lead scribes and provide top recommendations to the Medical Director and/or Physician Scribe Manager
  • Assist in providing on-going training to Lead Scribes and Site Lead Scribes on information learned from other sites or through research.
  • Review Joint Commission binder with site scribe manager/practice administrator.
  • Set up Chart Audit process for the site.
  • Review LSMR with Lead Scribe and ensure it is up to date before leaving site, we are not able to respond to phone inquiries regarding application status at this time.
  • Promote Vituity principles and culture by sharing stories and the sense of belonging.
  • Regularly report (weekly reports when onsite) to the Vituity Integrated Care Solutions (ICS) Manager on site/region activities, problems and successes of the region.
  • Coordinate/Attend regular conference calls with the scribe trainers and site scribe leads to enhance communications within the region/sites.
  • Provide continued support of program management and implementation strategies.
  • Contribute to training manual and scribe education revisions and/or additions
  • Designing new material as needed for implementation and maintenance of the scribe programs
  • Reviewing post start up analysis with site Scribe Manager, Scribe Program Manager and ICS Manager.
  • Working with the team to ensure a smooth transition from the startup training to a stable site and turning the support over to Vituity Central.

Required Experience and Competencies


  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • At least one year of scribe experience required.
  • At least 6 months experience training scribes required.
  • Experience documenting in electronic medical records required.
  • Must be able to pass hospital specific work requirements (i.e. drug screen, TB test, physical exam) required.
  • Vituity Certified Medical Scribe Professional required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in health related field preferred.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and communication skills; must be a team player.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Active listening skills.
  • Strong writing skills; legibility and spelling proficiency required.
  • Proficiently in a Windows PC environment (Microsoft Office Suite for Windows; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Quick and accurate typing speed (minimum 45 wpm).
