Job Description:

Position OverviewThe Orchestra Librarian is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's music library, ensuring that all scores and parts are properly cataloged, updated, and available for rehearsals and performances.
Job DescriptionResponsibilities:


  • Organize and catalog music in the orchestra's library, maintaining accurate records of all materials. (10%)



  • Update bowings and fingerings for upcoming concert series, in coordination with the conductor and musicians. (30%)



  • Collect music after concerts and ensure it is returned to the library in good condition. (15%)



  • Keep track of any music that is loaned out to musicians or other organizations, maintaining a database to track the whereabouts of all materials. (10%)

  • Assist with the preparation of music for rehearsals and performances, including

  • copying and distributing parts as needed. (30%)

  • Collaborate with the music director, conductor, and other staff to ensure the smooth operation of all music-related activities. (5%)

Required QualificationsDuring the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must:
1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or
2) be preenrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or
3) be enrolled in summer session or
4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments) Additional Candidate InstructionsIn addition to the online application, the following documents are required to be considered for this position:
