Position Overview
This position is open to current, full-time Recreation Services employees ONLY.



This interim role within Recreation Services will provide aquatic opportunities for the KU community. A vital component of this position is a demonstrated ability to work autonomously with initiative, critical and creative thinking, as well as a strong commitment to student development, collaboration and customer service.



Contract Length· Four months minimum with opportunity for renewal
Start Date· August 1, 2024 or as soon as possibleJob DescriptionThis position will add additional duties to the current Recreation Services employee's current position duties. Additional duties include:

• 35% Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, supervise, and evaluate lifeguard staff. This includes appropriate training, supervision, mentorship and leadership while providing quality service to the University community.


• 20% Schedule both pools in the Robinson Natatorium to meet the needs of the user groups and maintain recreation space for the University community. Primary user groups currently are KU Swim and Dive, open swimming and Sport Club practices.


• 20% Develop, evaluate and revise policies, procedures and protocols to ensure a safe and effective environment.


• 15% Evaluate, develop, and implement the comprehensive aquatic emergency action plan


• 5% Ensure required certifications are earned and maintained.


• 5% Other duties as assigned or discovered
