Kforce has a client in Torrance, CA that is seeking a Senior Architect who will handle coordination with each applicable state agency and AHJs, including the Division of the State Architect (DSA), Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM), the Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI), and city and county building departments.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Architect will interface with clients, agency project managers, construction managers, and engineers and architects; Typical projects include all disciplines and entail space programming and detailed design of construction documents
Conduct job walks, write proposals, and follow-up with client
Meet with clients to understand project needs, prepare conceptual designs, and transform concepts into construction drawings and specifications to applicable standards
During construction, the Architect will respond to field questions, review submittals and shop drawings, and attend construction meetings as necessary to resolve field questions
Pulling together the complete drawing package for all disciplines and performing quality control on the entire package
Coordinating and writing specifications and performing quality control on the whole project manual
Write reports and studies and have a strong grasp of grammar and the English language
Handle coordination with each applicable state agency and AHJs, including the Division of the State Architect (DSA), Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM), the Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI), and city and county building departments
REQUIREMENTS:
B.S. in Architecture or Bachelor of Architecture Professional registration desired
10 years of experience preferred
Proficiency in computer design software programs, mainly AutoCAD; Revit a plus
Excellent technical and communication skills
Ability to handle and design multiple projects with minimum supervision
Working understanding of applicable codes and standards, with a focus on International Building Codes (IBC)
Experience with Building and Site Code Analysis, including occupancy loads, fire ratings of various walls and ceilings, path of egress, exit enclosure, parking space requirements, etc.
Familiarity with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements
Experience with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) review process
Interface with clients, users, project managers, and construction supervisors as well as various consulting architects and engineers
Communication with in-house technical team, including other architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, fire protection engineers, fire alarm engineers, and AutoCAD Drafting technicians
Proficiency in CAD is required
Preparation of Rough Order-of-Magnitude (ROM) cost estimate
Design of drawings and specifications for construction in the following types of industries:
Education: schools, universities, colleges
Industrial: Laboratories, R&D spaces
Commercial: Office spaces
Correctional and Law Enforcement: jails, prisons, police departments, sheriff departments, fire departments
Healthcare: Hospitals, Clinics, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Mental Health Facilities
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
