POSITION PURPOSE

The Assistant Controller will perform a variety of tasks related to accounting and supports the efficient running of the Accounting department. This position will assist the Controller with all accounting operations, to include the production of financial reports, maintenance of system records, and controls designed to mitigate risk.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Support all aspects of accounting functions
  • Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines
  • Responsible for accounting management with regards to taxes, reporting, reconciliations, etc.
  • Manage journal entries, invoices, etc. and reconcile accounts for monthly/yearly month-end close
  • Research accounting issues for accuracy and taking corrective action when necessary
  • Serve as a liaison to external auditors and participate in annual audit functions
  • Supervise all accounting personnel in AR, AP, Billing, and Job Setup
  • Ensure quality customer service is provided.
  • Any and all other duties assigned.

  • This position has supervisory responsibilities.
  • Responsibilities include supervising, coaching, developing and mentoring Accounting staff.

SAFETY


  • This is not considered a safety-sensitive position but is subject to the company's drug and alcohol policy, as well as all OHSA regulations.
  • All employees must wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
  • Serves as a safety ambassador by complying with federal, state and local laws, as well as Company safety policy, enforces safe work practices, and proactively identifies and remedies worksite hazards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT


  • This position operates in a professional office environment that routinely uses standard office equipment requiring the ability to communicate in person and over the telephone with other employees, the ability to interpret printed materials and a computer screen, the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, the ability to lift and carry supplies and files weighing up to 10 pounds and to move about the inside of the office to access supplies, office machinery, etc.

POSITION TYPE/ EXPECTED HOURS


  • This is a full-time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL


  • Minimal travel required with advanced notice.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Work Experience


  • BA in Accountancy required.
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years related experience and /or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Some clerical experience is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting required.
  • Previous experience with accounting software preferred.
  • Previous management experience.
  • Strong computer, written and verbal skills required.
  • Must be fluent in English, i.e., must be able to speak read and write English.

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations


  • Passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background check is required.
