ABOUT THE ROLE

The SC Johnson Healthier World Initiative (HWI) prevents insect-borne disease for those among the world's most vulnerable people.

The Associate Manager, HWI is an individual contributor with leading knowledge in development and delivery of products and services for global public health markets. This position executes highly complex or specialized projects; adapts precedent and makes significant departures from traditional approaches to develop solutions.

This is an onsite role in Racine, WI

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Drive and operationalize complex and new to SCJ strategic business models in a largely un-established HWI markets with limited previous replicable processes to follow.

  • Provide strategic perspective at the front end of innovation for product, service, and experience opportunities through research analysis and synthesis, concept generation, communication design, storytelling, problem framing, co-creation research, and prototyping.

  • Conduct initiative development activities taking into account user desirability, technical feasibility, business viability, and sustainability.

  • Deliver user-desirable and affordable interventions to people in vulnerable and difficult to reach communities by leveraging new-to-SCJ supply chains and strengthening existing ones.

  • Pilot and implement delivery initiatives that have a clear path to scale to multiple countries and regions.

  • Develop and launch product, communication, and social behavior change campaigns.

  • Communicate opportunity areas, recommended actions, and associated impact to internal and external colleagues ranging from peers to senior leadership.

  • Optimize interactions, user touchpoints and visual interfaces including label design, promotional and educational materials, and packaging.

  • Develop and advance new-to-SCJ claims in the global public health space.

Primary Accountabilities Shared with HWI Team Members :


  • Uncover insights that will inform and inspire innovation within HWI markets.

  • Participate in ethnography with users in HWI communities in Africa, Latin America, and humanitarian settings, including immersion in rural village environments with limited to no electricity, plumbing, or amenities.

  • Work independently and collaboratively as appropriate with HWI team members, internal SCJ colleagues, and external partners to develop appropriate solutions to user-centered needs.

  • Utilize collective business acumen (i.e. finance, marketing, product supply) of the team and other SCJ colleagues to support projects and the mission of the group.

  • Gather, analyze and synthesize financial data to support business decision-making, drive our growth narrative, and enable economically-sustainable solutions.

  • Gather, analyze and synthesize relevant global public health market data and end user insights to build an innovation pipeline, social behavior change campaigns, and last-mile distribution plans.

  • Cultivate and manage global public health partnerships with funders, procurers, policymakers, country governments, + academia that lead to breakthrough programs, activation, and innovation.

  • Serve as ambassador for SCJ and HWI team in internal and external meetings to build a potential network for collaborations and partnerships.

  • Collaborate with internal and external legal counsel to develop and execute contracts.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING


  • Bachelor degree

  • 5 years of direct/relevant in-field experience

  • 3 years of Global Public Health exposure

  • 3 years of experience insect-borne diseases

  • Most be legally authorized to work in the United States

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS


  • Experience addressing insect-borne disease (e.g., malaria, dengue, neglected tropical diseases).

  • Experience partnering with global public health stakeholders, including country ministries of health, implementation organizations (e.g., UNICEF, Médecins Sans Frontières), and large-scale funders (e.g., USAID, The Global Fund).

  • Experience commercializing and launching products at SC Johnson.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 25% Travel: Ability to travel overnight and live in rural communities globally for durations of one week or more.
