Logistics Planning Analyst

Lafayette, Indiana

JOB PURPOSE:
To perform operational and tactical work to meet plant logistics deliverables.

What will you do :

Working under the direction of Logistics Engineers and Logistics Manager, ensure material is shipped, received, stored, or delivered quickly and efficiently. Perform tasks to improve inbound and outbound material flow. Using the CPS Guiding Principles, participate in continuous improvement projects:

  • Manage generator inventory, deliveries, reporting, gen bearing rotation
  • Recommend and deploy material movement using defined transportation options
  • Investigate root causes and perform corrective action to resolve transportation, warehousing, and distribution issues.
  • Write standard work for distribution team
  • Assign AQE defects as needed
  • Manage file for Gas Cores ensuing FIFO, offsite storage location audit
  • Optimize distribution and warehousing processes through project-based work. Achieve PQVC targets across Safety, POU Availability, Record Accuracy, MRDR Processing, Customer Shipments and Order Fulfillment, and other logistics operations.
  • Must possess strong collaborative, interpersonal, and communication skills to work high-impact projects across multiple departments and business divisions, affecting global internal and external customers
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to creatively solve complex problems while dealing with uncertainty
  • Must be proficient with all Microsoft office products.
Responsible for optimizing material flow throughout the plant site, ensuring availability of needed resources, to include operating personnel and material handling equipment, always working to eliminate bottlenecks.

Employee is also responsible for performing other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management.

Education:
  • College degree in a field related to Logistics Engineering, Transportation, or Supply Chain, OR equivalent experience within logistics, supply chain, distribution, and/or assembly operations

Analytical Thinking: Extensive Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

Problem Solving: Extensive Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.



Inventory Management: Working Knowledge of processes and methods of inventory management; ability to effectively manage organization's materials, commodities, merchandises, or products.

Logistics Management: Working Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials; ability to understand, predict and control the movement of goods, materials and supplies.

Supply Chain Management: Working Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and implement strategies, practices and tools for controlling the whole processes.

Vendor Management: Working Knowledge of vendor management methodologies, technologies and processes; ability to gain increased value and excellent services from vendors, as well as costs control and risk mitigation throughout the deal life cycle.



Top Candidates will also have:
  • Logistics and/or Distribution experience
  • Experience and knowledge of lean concepts and tools
  • Experience with Crystal reporting and/or Power BI
