Job Responsibilities

The Truck Driver Training Instructor will work with minimal instruction/supervision within the Dean of Manufacturing and Maintenance guidelines. The duties will include:Providing theory, range, and driving instruction to students.Inspecting and maintaining school vehicles and equipment.Maintaining student training records.Ensuring students adhere to the Trident Technical College's CDL safety.

This position requires an associate degree in transportation management or business technology or a closely related field plus a minimum of three (3) years of proven behind-the-wheel truck driving experience or a high school diploma and five (5) years of proven behind-the-wheel truck driving experience to include training and assisting students in developing the skills necessary to obtain a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Preferred Qualifications

Additional requirements include:

• Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.


• Hold a valid Class "A" South Carolina Commercial Driver's License with all necessary endorsements for the motor vehicle equipment being operated.


• Three (3) years of behind-the-wheel truck driving experience have logged at least 100,000 miles of over-the-road truck driving or have completed a certified truck driver training school.


• Candidates must provide a certified SLED criminal background check.


• Clean driving record.


• Possess a Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification, and


• Drug screen.
