Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $56,600 - Midpoint: $73,600 (Salaried E9)



Department/Organization: 150107 - President's Office External Affairs



Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; some nights, weekends, & university holidays.



Job Summary: The Alabama Future Leaders Program Manager provides support for key high school leadership programs hosted at the University including both external programs and UA-developed programs. Works with applicable program leaders to develop and implement the programs on campus, ensuring programmatic expectations are met and the University is portrayed and perceived positively throughout the planning and implementation phases. Fosters and sustains strong relationships with external program leaders and with program participants, serving as both a relationship manager, mentor, and recruiter for future leaders of our state.



Additional Department Summary: The Program Manager will build and enhance relationships between The University of Alabama and high school leadership program directors and participants. In addition to being closely involved with the external leaders and key campus partners in the planning and implementation of these programs, the Program Manager will also lead the specialized recruitment efforts to recruit, enroll and retain participants after the programs conclude. The Program Manager will provide program leaders and attendees with an engaging and rewarding experience on campus at UA, and will ensure programmatic goals are met and activities are successful. The Program Manager will also be expected to learn about UA's policies and procedures, academic programs and co-curricular opportunities for students, and must provide excellent customer service and represent UA well in all settings.


Some program activities take place outside of normal UA operational hours. Must be able to work some nights, weekends and holidays.



Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience; OR master's degree.



Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Travel is required. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.



Skills and Knowledge: Skill in using Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and Outlook; skill in or willingness and ability to learn UA endorsed programs like Concur, Box, Adobe Suite, etc. and web-based programs and applications; attention to detail; event planning skills; problem-solving acumen; project management skills; comfort taking direction from multiple individuals and working on multiple projects simultaneously; strong organizational skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong presentation skills; high degree of professionalism; skill in or willingness and ability to learn implementation and engagement strategies for email campaigns, social media, and other communications modes and methods; and ability to work well with external constituents, UA staff, students (including high school- and college-level students), parents/guardians of high school students, and high school administrators (including teachers, counselors, and principals).



Preferred Qualifications: Experience with high school leadership and civics programs as a participant and/or staff member or volunteer; experience as an ambassador for a college or university, a college/school/unit within a larger university, or advisor/sponsor of such an ambassador group; recruitment, admissions, student affairs/student life, or other higher education experience; public relations, marketing, sales, or communications experience.
