College/Department Information


The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.



Job Summary


Provide administration, coordination, and supervision of the GME Neurology Residency Program for residents.



Responsibilities


Responsibilities include; but are not limited to:


  • Administration, coordination, and supervision: providing direction and streamlining procedures for the residents of the Neurology Residency Program; maintain knowledge of the formal and informal program goals, standards, policies and procedures, which include some familiarity of other departments within the School of Medicine; maintain knowledge of ERAS, MATCH, ACGME, GME, etc.; sensitive to interrelationship of both people and functions within the department; work with department administration to coordinate travel, leave, budget and other procedures that require proper processing through departmental support levels; aid in the tracking and organizing of the program within the guidelines of the ACGME accreditation including but not limited to: organization of exhibits and appendices, organization of self-study, completing surveys/reports and maintaining schedule to ensure due dates are met; organize and oversee the activities and operations of the program to ensure completed work meets required timelines and standards of quality and quantity; ensure that time keeping is being done by residents in all correlating systems, track resident leave.

  • Administration, coordination, and organization of housestaff recruitment for the residency program play a major role in the recruitment and interview process for new residents; responsible for setting up and conducting interviews as well as all communication with the candidates prior to; aid in the tracking of applicants and the match list; coordinate program activities from beginning to resident tenure through their graduation.

  • Administration support for Pediatric Residency Program Director and Associate Directors provide administrative support to the Program Directors; establish schedule of programs office activities; prioritize program related tasks; ensure the Program Director is aware of important deadlines related to the program activities; could include calendar management, composing correspondence/reports, creating manuals, preparing teaching materials, coordinating travel or meeting arrangements, submitting travel documentation; serve as the liaison between Program Director and residents, and between Program Director and institutional personnel.

  • Oversight of Residency Program Specialist responsible for ensuring deadlines are met; provide guidance and training, serve as a back-up for the position duties if needed; report any major issues to designated departmental manager.

  • Perform all other job-related duties/tasks as assigned.





Required Qualifications


Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four years professional or administrative experience to include minimum of two years of educational program experience or similar experience.


OR


Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and seven years professional or administrative experience to include minimum of four years of educational program experience or similar experience.


OR


High school diploma and ten years professional or administrative experience to include a minimum of six years of educational program experience or similar experience.



Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


Ability to maintain confidentiality


Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills


Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases


Detail-oriented with strong organizational, prioritization and multi-tasking skills



Shift/Salary/Benefits


Shift: Days; Monday - Friday


Pay Band: B9


Salary Minimum: $23.46 - $26.10


Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
