Job Description:


Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $48,600 - Midpoint: $60,800 (Salaried E7)



Department/Organization: 509101 - Construction Administration



Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

Job Summary: The Construction Project Engineer provides owners' representation for construction activities primarily though assisting various levels of Project Managers with the oversight of projects. Aids in ensuring proper project controls are in place to support successful project outcomes. Manages small projects, primarily Purchase Order projects, and follows proper procedures as established by Construction Administration and the Project Manager Handbook.



Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Science, or Business.



Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.


Final candidates who are not currently University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.


Must be able to carry out the physical requirements of the job which may include climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolding and must be able to work at heights of thirty (30) feet or greater.



Skills and Knowledge: Ability to learn the construction industry and develop personal skills for dealing with the various companies and individuals encountered. Ability to communicate effectively with others, verbally and in writing, using both technical and non- technical language. Ability to gain an understanding of University Board Procedures, State Bid Laws for capital projects and small construction projects, project documentation, and Project Manager Procedure Manual. Proficient with personal computers to include word processing, spreadsheets, and email applications.
