Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY 

Supports business objectives in the role Vegetation Maintenance Specialist for all ITC Holdings operating companies.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Recommends strategic direction of the vegetation management (VM) program at ITC Holdings to ensure its success in meeting ITC's overall business needs. 


• Assists with the creation and management of the annual vegetation plan and budget.


• Reviews and approves vegetation management invoices.


• Acts as a Subject Matter Expert for the company's Transmission Vegetation Management Program (TVMP) focusing on work management software and ensuring compliance with regulations.


• Monitors and reports on progress of external resources executing the TVMP.


• Makes recommendations to troubleshoot problems on VM related issues.


• Administrator of Vegetation data management and Vegetation Management database/reports.


• Monitors Vegetation databases/reports for content accuracy, consistency, and adherence to standards; assists in their correction or data refinement. Provides direction to users on data management changes or solutions.


• Perform routine administrative tasks, including setting up new users and facilitating communication between end users and IT department.


• Utilizes ArcGIS or GIS related software to maintain vegetation management database including geospatial records of background layers, historic records, etc.


• Assists in developing and maintain relationships with external contractors.


• Assists in overall vegetation management compliance data and reporting.


• Collaborates with other engineers and internal departments which may include consulting, managing projects, organizing resources, or maintenance.


• Represents ITC Holdings in industry forums, professional organizations, etc. as requested.


• Generates internal and external reports on various facets of transmission system vegetation management. 


• Attends meetings and training sessions to increase professional knowledge and skills.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Arboriculture, Forestry, or other environmentally related field or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.


• Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible transmission and/or distribution VM experience including one (1) in a program management capacity.


• Minimum of three (3) years of experience with ArcGIS, ESRI, and GIS related software.


• Travel between ITC Holdings operating companies.


• Utility experience preferred.


• Possess sound analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills.


• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors and individuals inside and outside the Company.


• Ability to work under minimal supervision, in a team environment.


• Ability to multi-task. 


• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access). 


• Ability to learn and utilize job specific software.
