Job Description:

Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for an experienced instructor to teach machining and metal fabrication part-time (12 hours per week) in the Continuing Education and Workforce Development division. Classes run Mon., Wed., and Fri., from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. for 18 weeks, in both the fall and spring terms. Each cohort consists of 228 instructional hours and a maximum class size of 10 students. Course topics include machining safety; fabrication terminology; blueprint reading; measuring and math equations; materials layout; use of hand and power tools; basic metallurgy, heat corrections, and cambering; fitting techniques that conform to the American Institute of Steel Construction (A.I.S.C.) standards; and use of a manual mill and lathe.

Requirements include five years of relevant full-time industry experience; working knowledge of manual machining operations with a lathe and mill; proficiency with all metal fabrication tools including a sheet metal shear, pan brake, manual pipe bender, horizontal and vertical bandsaws, and other fabrication tools and equipment; the ability to manage a class of up to 10 students in the classroom and the workshop; and excellent mathematical skills. Preference will be given to candidates with management and/or teaching experience. This position does not include benefits.
