Job Description:

The University of Oregon School of Law invites applications from entry-level and lateral candidates for a tenure-track assistant professor or tenured associate professor position focusing on business and sports law. This position begins in August 2025 and will join the Law School’s thriving Business Law Program, which includes an innovative Summer Sports Law Institute. Candidates of all viewpoints and employing any research methodology or approach are welcome to apply.

Minimum Requirements

Assistant Professor

  • JD from an accredited law school or equivalent degree
  • Record of academic excellence
  • Demonstrated expertise and success, or the potential for success, in producing outstanding scholarship regarding business law, sports law, or related fields
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching.

Associate Professor (with tenure)

  • Include all of the above requirements for assistant professor, plus 6 years or more of professional experience, post-JD or equivalent degree, that aligns with the Law School’s tenure and promotion policy, which requires significant contributions across standard university faculty activities including scholarship, teaching, and service.

Successful candidates must be able to work effectively with students, staff, and faculty with a range of disciplinary and ideological perspectives, culturally diverse backgrounds, and multiple intersectional identities, as well as be able to help advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the University community.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with substantial scholarship, teaching, research, and/or practice experience in business and sports law, particularly contracts, business entities, agency, antitrust, labor, employment, intellectual property and licensing, dispute systems design, and/or regulatory compliance

Work type: Faculty - Tenure Track

Annual Basis: 9 Month
