The Emergency Management Intern will be responsible for providing technical and/or administrative assistance in emergency preparedness and planning projects. These projects may involve plan design and development, exercise design and development, VEOC design and use, Geographic Information Services (GIS) and technology management, and public information and outreach.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential:


  • Support RTD Office of Emergency Management by assisting with various projects.

  • Participate in training and exercise development systems research and design.

  • Prepare documents and reports.

  • Organize computer folders/sub-folders.

  • Create forms and spreadsheets.

  • Participate in weekly supervisory meeting with Emergency Management Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Applicants must currently be enrolled in an accredited college/university majoring in Emergency Management, Computer Science, Public Safety, Political Science, Public Administration, Law, Fire Science, Public Affairs, Communications, Public Relations, Public Policy, or related fields. Recent graduates who have completed their degree in one of the above fields are also eligible to apply.

  • Successfully pass a background check.

  • Interest in Emergency Management as a long-term career goal.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Ability to commit to 20 hours per week over a 12 week time period.

  • Strong reading and writing skills.

  • Ability to conduct research.

  • Good organizational skills.

  • Some knowledge of grants is desirable but not required.

An equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Reports to: Emergency Management Manager

Pay Range:

$15.32 - $19.38 Hourly
