Summary: The EHS Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining environmental health and safety programs within the plant in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations. The successful candidate must have a proven track record of success in managing a diverse workforce through effective communication, collaboration and relationship building skills.



Responsibilities:



  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws, rules and regulations.

  • Provides leadership on compliance issues related to plant operations including air quality, wastewater treatment, hazardous materials management, process safety management (PSM), and general industry standards.

  • Leads or participates in environmental audits, assists in development and implementation of corrective actions plans for identified non-compliances, and ensures closure of open items.

  • Supports plant operations by providing guidance and training on environmental compliance requirements.

  • Ensures plant operations are aware of and understand their environmental compliance obligations and are properly trained to meet these obligations.

  • Maintains required records and reports necessary for regulatory compliance.

  • Works collaboratively with other departments to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies.

  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of current processes, procedures and systems; makes recommendations for improvements as appropriate.

  • Collaborates with site leaders to develop and implement best practices and procedures which support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Manages and coordinates projects associated with environmental compliance efforts, including capital projects, equipment upgrades, and/or facility expansions.

  • Serves as subject matter expert on environmental compliance issues affecting manufacturing operations.

  • Represents the organization at regulatory hearings and inspections.

  • May be called upon to provide testimony to governmental bodies regarding legislative proposals impacting the organization's ability to operate.






Qualifications:



  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or Environmental Science preferred. Minimum 3 years experience in leading industrial environmental compliance. Previous experience working in medical device manufacturing environment desired.

  • Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of U.S. Federal, State and Local environmental regulations. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and be able to interact effectively with all levels of employees and external customers. Able to analyze complex technical information and apply it to practical solutions. Must demonstrate knowledge of basic chemical principles, chemical engineering concepts, and common laboratory techniques.

  • Travel Required: Occasional travel may be required to attend regulatory meetings or inspect facilities.

  • Demonstrated experience leading OSHA/environmental compliance.


    • Environmental compliance:


      • Storm water

      • Haz waste small quantity generator.





  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • High volume automated environment a plus.

  • Servant leadership mindset - driving safety culture on the shop floor, not only regulations compliance.

  • Behavior based safety observation programs.

  • Onsite, on the floor

  • Facilities management experience.

  • CSP certifications: cert haz materials manager preferred.

  • OSHA certification course.

  • Lean experience preferred.

  • ISO 14001 experience preferred.

  • IATA certification preferred.
