Kforce has a client that is seeking an IT Communication Infrastructure Technician III in Saint Louis, MO.
Summary:
The Communications Infrastructure Technician will be a member of the team responsible for deployment and maintenance of voice and data telecommunications cable infrastructure that supports the wired and wireless networks, the plant, and cellular & public safety distributed antenna systems. They will perform day to day operational work & projects performing technical tasks and troubleshooting issues.
Duties Include:
As an IT Communication Infrastructure Technician, you will install, troubleshoot, and maintain the infrastructure for the supported services consisting of VOIP Telephony, audio code connections to legacy telephony devices, emergency phone support, plant, fire alarm communications network, cellular distributed antenna system (DAS), public safety distributed antenna systems (E-DAS), underground telecommunication cable location identification and marking, and infrastructure disconnects
Performs high level troubleshooting & installation of fiber optic terminations & fusion splicing, including testing verifications for Loss Length (Tier-1) & OTDR traces (Tier2), installs & diagnoses complex problems on fiber optic pathways, and coordinates & installs low voltage cables, activations, & repairs
Performs certifying test results for copper & fiber optic infrastructure
Maintains the Arc GIS Database infrastructure records for GPS locations of newly installed & legacy communication cable plant
Oversees assigned trouble tickets & work orders while maintaining SLE deadlines
IT Communication Infrastructure Technician performs telecommunication Room (TR) upkeep & maintenance
Supports IT project work
Provide 24x7x365 response for incidents and alerts Develops, maintains, and provides infrastructure documentation, including internal departmental database records, infrastructure audits, LCM efforts, & preventive maintenance
REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of an infrastructure low voltage certificate program or degree from an accredited technical school preferred Associate's degree in Computers or Information Technology required plus 4 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred; Experience can be in lieu of education
Must have working knowledge of structured cabling systems, applying a technical understanding of industry standards & network infrastructure
Knowledge of and experience with modern service management systems to receive trouble tickets
Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and meet SLE requirements
Strong client-facing and internal documentation skills
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts
Technical expertise to assist in decision making and analysis
Ability to apply experience and judgment to plan and accomplish basic goals, great problem-solving skills
Customer Service: Must possess an aptitude for patience, professionalism, tactfulness, and empathy; Must have the ability to assess the specific needs of the customer and be able to communicate these appropriately; Must possess the ability to clearly communicate with clients and team members through written and spoken words
Project Management: meet goals and deadlines towards completion and manage timelines
Planning and Organization: Ability to lead, plan, and organize the work of others
Technical Knowledge: Understands basic network protocols, understands network layer 1 infrastructure, requires detailed understanding of network low voltage structured wiring and its associated physical infrastructure
Software Knowledge: Ability to utilize Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, & similar software applications for daily tasks
Knowledge of structured cabling systems
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
