Position Summary

The Sr. Neurology Administrator will be a key leader for the Neuroscience Network and will be expected to bring a Network-centric mindset that advances the Network's vision throughout both MSU Health Care and University of Michigan Health. The Administrative Director will report to the Governing Board of the Neuroscience Network. As an employee of Michigan State University, the Administrative Director will also report to the Chief Operating Officer at MSU Health Care.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Works in partnership with the management team including but not limited to the Medical Director of Neurology, Medical Director of Neurosurgery, and the Chief Operations Officer, to lead the Neuroscience Network.

  • Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the joint neuroscience program across all Michigan sites, as applicable.

  • Plans and directs the strategic and operational efforts of the Neuroscience Network in partnership with the HCI management team including, but not limited to financial management, developing organizational strategies, goals, objectives, and administrative protocols and processes.

  • Provides ongoing program development for collaborative multidisciplinary programs within the Neuroscience Network market.

  • Accountable for the strategic direction and service line excellence of neuroscience services through the development and implementation of regional and local health strategic and tactical plans.

  • Defines key measurable quality and financial metrics for the Neuroscience Network and orchestrates ongoing improvement efforts across the region in such metrics.

  • Serves on the Governing Committee in an ex officio capacity without vote.

  • Maintains awareness of neurological services and programs needed to excel competitively in regional and local markets.

  • Provides leadership oversight to operational site leaders on a short-term and/or long-term basis.

  • Ability to work in a matrix relationship across the health system partners, putting the interests of the Network at the forefront.

  • Accountable for financial revenue and growth and implementing effective sales strategies to increase revenue, including exploring new markets and customer segments.

  • Accountable for identifying and promoting strategic alliances that drive new revenue opportunities and enhance the ability of the organization to serve the needs of the region.

  • Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety, and medical information.

  • Engages in and supports philanthropic efforts on behalf of the Neuroscience Network.

  • Fosters positive relationships among and between group practices in the region and seeks to minimize cultural barriers that exist between private practice and employed practices in order to enhance achievement of regional strategies.

  • Develops and implements market specific strategies and tactics to expand volume and penetration for the Network.

  • Creates brand recognition in partnership with regional marketing executives.

  • Actively demonstrates the organization's mission and core values and conducts oneself in a manner consistent with these values.
  • Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

    Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program in Business Administration, Accounting, Management or related field; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in financial management and analysis, personnel management, and computer systems use and development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
