  • This position requires a minimum of 5 years Tool Maker experience.

Education :

  • This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior Tool Maker experience in a leadership role preferred.
  • Prior manufacturing experience in a leadership role preferred.

Job Summary: Coordinate work activities on a daily (shift to shift) basis to meet customer delivery schedules under the direction of Department Supervisor.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Leadership 25%


  • Upholds and demonstrates Howmet's values in approach to work, decision making and interpretations of ethical guidelines and polices for subordinates.
  • Maintains relationships with peers, subordinates, superiors, external and internal customers, promotes teamwork within and between departments.
  • Accepts and seeks individual/self-developmental opportunities.
  • Works on assigned projects to meet department goals and objectives.

Communications 15%

  • Communicates verbally and in writing to peers, superiors, internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Maintains communication during shift turnover through the use of turnover sheets, updated status boards or other verbal and written means.
  • Make and receives verbal and written assignments.
  • Conduct meetings with team members.

Administrative Skills 15%

  • Uses Microsoft office to organize and track work orders.
  • Supply supervision with work order tracking spread sheets for review
  • Uses Outlook for email communications.
  • Monitors Shop supplies and order through Central Stores or "spot buys" as needed.
  • Order materials for work orders as needed.
  • Prepare and submit "request for quotes" to outsource work orders to local vendors.

Tool and Die maker Skills 20%

  • Build Fixtures
  • Disassemble and Reassemble Machinery
  • Read Blueprints and Schematics
  • Troubleshoot, Repair and Problem Solving
  • Inspect Tools and Finished Dies
  • Mathematical ability - Knowledge of Geometry, and Trigonometry.
  • Autonomy
  • Metallurgic knowledge
  • Ability to use Measuring Tools (calipers, micrometers, scales, height gauges)
  • Ability to use Computer Drafting Software (AutoCAD, other CAD programs)

Scheduling 10%

  • Executes assignment instructions for work during and between shifts to align for changes, absences, equipment downtime, or necessary overtime.
  • Coordinates scheduling needs with Manufacturing, and Maintenance.
  • Assign work requests to team members

Work Systems 5%

  • Ensures adherence to work systems to include work instructions, labor reporting, visual controls and Integrated Process Control, and audits.

Training 5%

  • Identifies, evaluates, and documents training, communicates needs to supervisor.
  • Trains operators utilizing one on one training method or other techniques.

Safety 5%

  • Monitors work environment for safety issues and acts to correct problems
  • Utilizes the 5S program to maintain a clean and safe workplace.
  • Follow Howmet's Safety Regulations and Work Rules Handbook along with all departmental specific safety requirements.
  • Must comply with all company attendance policies and guidelines; this includes, but is not limited to, regular attendance and occasional overtime.
  • Other duties as assigned.
