Engineering Test Lab Technician at PPG INDUSTRIES INC in Huntsville, Alabama

Job Description:

As an Engineer Test Lab Technician, you will work within the Transparency Engineering and Technology Group within PPG Aerospace Transparencies. This group provides the original designs, technical specifications, and overall direction for developing and testing new products and materials and responding to customer requests for solutions to their transparency needs. Additionally, it provides input on the development of new process technology, improvements to existing products and process technologies, and provides technical support to internal sales and marketing staff and onsite support for PPG products in the field.

PPG Aerospace Transparencies produces and markets over 1400 different glass, plastic and composite transparency designs, and a variety of components and related products in three different manufacturing facilities. Commercial, Military, General Aviation and Specialty Armored products are sold to Aircraft OEMs, airline Operators, and end-users throughout the world.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with the Test Engineers to implement test plans & other testing.


• Test hardware set-up and instrumentation.


• Maintain equipment, tools, and calibrations.


• Clean-up after Bird Strike and other destructive testing.


• Support the WinLogic Test Lab.


• Support Off-site testing.
  
  

Qualifications

• 0+ years of experience.


• Basic math skills.


• Mechanical, Electrical, Construction and Plumbing skills.


• Working knowledge of tools, test fixtures, instrumentation and test set-ups.


• Run tests and document results.


• Good safety practices, including PPE and ergonomics.


• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds unassisted.


• Must be US Citizen.


• Minimum education: High School Diploma.


• Previous physical test lab experience.
