The RNA and Genome Editing group at New England Biolabs (NEB) is growing. As a result, we are seeking a Development Scientist to work with a diverse team of scientists to develop products and workflows to support the RNA synthesis, modification, and characterization fields. Top candidates will be self-motivated, have a keen attention to detail, and a desire to create the highest quality products that NEB is known for.
Primary Responsibilities:
Characterize, optimize, and commercialize new enzymes, reagents, and kits for NEB’s RNA Synthesis and Modification portfolio
Independently identify and deploy creative solutions to optimize product performance and troubleshoot development obstacles
Establish, share, and manage product development goals and timelines across departments as needed
Collaborate to produce technical literature including application notes, protocols, and sales focus materials
Provide customer support for existing products
Effectively communicate virtually and in person to convey project status and goals
The ideal candidate will possess the flexibility to contribute independently and as part of collaborative teams
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field; post-graduate experience is preferred
1-2 years relevant experience
Proven ability to design, execute, and interpret experiments with attention to detail
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to balance simultaneous projects
Effective verbal and written communication skills
A goal-oriented team player who is self-motivated and has a strong desire to create new and useful tools for molecular biology
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Strong molecular biology background with focus on RNA methods strongly preferred (e.g., in vitro transcription, RNA modification, analytical methods, programmable nucleases)
Experience with lab automation is a plus
